I think I may have taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque.

I'm using SimSettlements on XBox One.

I didn't realize the mod doesn't quite work with the Provisioner option. I tried to assign a couple settlers to set up supply lines to Sanctuary.

They're not going anywhere, just wandering around their settlements, "jobless." When I try to assign them to new tasks - or a new home plot with one of them - they don't respond to the assignment. They'll "go" to the plot, but the assignment goes nowhere.

Same goes for the salvage beacons. I can't get any settler to "accept" the assignment to the salvage station. I've tried adjusting the settings in Options. I can click "Auto Assign Away From Work" to OFF in the Local options, but the options in "Assignment" all seem to be stuck on ON, except for Auto Assignment.

I think that may be the cause, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I wonder if it's a mod conflict.

My Load Order as follows:

Sim Settlements
True Storms: Wasteland Edition
Salvage Beacons
Sim Settlements - Altairp's Animal Farm

I think I have these loaded right, but I'll be the first to admit I might have misinterpreted the recommended mod load order.

If anyone has an idea on where I went wrong, I'd be happy to hear suggestions.

Thanks!

I'd wait until the patch 3.0 patch drops tomorrow and see if the problem corrects itself. I've been seeing reports of holotape options in the prep releases leading up to 3.0 not quite working right.

Did you manually install the mods or did it through Nexus Manager ?

I know Kinggath mentioned this a couple of times, but i didn't had issue until recently with Nexus Manager. No mather what i do, it always does some weird glitches in my mods (specially the big ones)

I just stopped using it as an installer and install them manually instead. I use the manager purely for load order since the past 2 weeks.

I would give it a try if i was you, just replace the files manually and see if it fixes it. That helped me a LOT with bigger mods lately.

He even made a nice video how to :)

He's on the Xbox one, so entirely manual.

I'm guessing it has to do with your load order. I'm also on the Xbox One and stuck somewhat to the order found in this thread as well as what I could find online. Plus a lot of trial and error. I'm trying to get my load order setup correctly before the expansion comes out tomorrow.

ver. 3.0 comes out tomorrow? That's cool. Hopefully that resolves some issues.
I wish I knew whether my load order had an effect. I'm not even sure where to start, since I think I followed everything okay.

Lol!

Well, do you have a save that doesn't have these issues? If so, then you have a date from where it started going down hill.

Saying that, we have seen other players having problems with assigning settlers. Sadly there's no one for all fix known [yet].
Also, the menus became a bit messed up with the 2.1.8 release. Hopefully that will be sorted with the 3.0 release.

This is just speculation, but ever since a certain patch came out, I don't know if it was the one that brought dynamic needs, but any settlement with ENPCs (Essential Non-Playable Characters) such as children or certain main characters have been bugged. For example, my Sanctuary isn't working at all, and I've also heard that Sim Settlements brought a bug that had all Essential characters walking back from Sanctuary to the place where you find them (The museum place). I also just ran into a settlement that wasn't working that had a child in it. This is all just speculation, but doing some digging around, a lot of these problems stem from essential characters. You could try getting a mod that makes all characters not essential, and see if that works. If it does I might get it too. I just don't like those mods because if Preston dies while I'm in the middle of his questline, that'd be unfortunate.

Re since xx patch came out. That's why I asked for a date when things begun going wrong.
I haven't heard about the problem with ENPCs (Essential Non-Playable Characters). But I certainly doesn't know it all.

I noticed the thing with provisioners and the supply beacon a couple days ago, which was a couple days after I got the Local Leader perk. I didn't get around to the new assignments right away. If I could pinpoint a save prior to the issue, it's well back from where I currently am with the game - far enough that I'd just live with the issue if I have to.
We'll see how the new patch goes. I also noticed the menu options seemed consolidated or shortened recently.

Yes, as mentioned in the change notes and video for the update, the menu was reworked to make it easier for players to work with it. Sadly at the same time parts of the menu was messed up and doesn't work 100%.

Well, I've installed Rise of the Commonwealth and Industrial Revolution. Prior to that, I deactivated all my mods, save Sim Settlements, and still had not luck assigning provisioners or settlers to supply stations. I also tied it on a game I have on another account: Same results.
Maybe as Rise of the Commonwealth updates, these kinks will get worked out.

That other account, it's on the same Xbox? So the files would be the same?

Thing is, although you're not alone in experiencing this behaviour, you all are not all that many either. Which suggest that it isn't a general bug in Sim Settlements. There still can be a minor combination bug of course, but most likely it's something gone wrong at the local system/installation. One clear indicator of this is that you say that it still doesn't work when you only have Sim Settlements as the only mod. We know for sure that Sim Settlements works on Xbox when correctly installed. Thus, something is messing up your files.

Now, deactivating a mod is not the same as uninstalling them and removing the files. I.e. any file mess will still be present.

Sadly I have little knowledge of how you can access the filesystem on Xbox. On a PC I would advice the player to do a clean install of the game and mods. I.e. uninstall the game and then erase all files from the Fallout 4 folder. Most likely the old saves will work in the refreshed system.

Believe it or not, I don't think there's a serious bug with Sim Settlements - I wouldn't have added Industrial Revolution & Rise of the Commonwealth if I did. I thought I'd tripped a setting somewhere or misunderstood something. I don't know. LOL!

I didn't know there was a difference between deactivating and untinstalling. I'll have to try that. You're right, both games are on the same Xbox. However, the original game does have provisioners... until now. So, yeah, something's causing an issue.

I did try deleting the save data on the console. I'll take the next step and remove mods, as well as uninstall and reinstall the game.

I appreciate all your advice. Thanks for taking time to give my issue attention. I'll keep you posted with how the next steps go.

The second most boring thing for a coder is making an install script. The absolutely worst thing they know is making an uninstall script. What tends to happen is that they update the main files but forgets to update the install/remove files/instructions.
When we players then start installing and uninstalling mod after mod, it's bound to go haywire sooner than later.

Well, I screwed something up somewhere along the line.

I did as you recommended: I deleted all my mods, though I kept SimSettlements stuff. That didn't work - still no assignments for Scrap station or provisioners. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the game, which also forced me to re-download and reinstall all the mods, including SimSettlements. I also hard re-booted the Xbox just in case.
Still no luck. Guess I'll have to muddy on without that function, with this game at least.
