Solved Sporatic Invisible Objects

Hello,

For the last two years or so I've had pretty consistant issues with Sim Settlements and certain objects. Objects will appear or disappear seemingly at random and while a refresh will make the items appear again, they will inevitably start disappearing again when I save/reload, move too far away from the settlement, or fast travel. I've done some research on the forums and found a few other people with identical issues:

https://simsettlements.com/site/ind...build-items-floors-walls-etc.5772/#post-43510 https://simsettlements.com/site/ind...xtures-and-structures-since-last-update.3402/ https://simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/graygarden-bugs-for-rotc.2529/

The issue seems to be specific to certain objects (notably tower/windmill graphics in Greygarden and Sanctuary), and it's always sporatic, they sometimes appear and sometimes don't

This problem has persisted for me through two years and multiple computer reformats. It occurs on fresh installs and new games with only Sim Settlements loaded, and occurs both on manual installs and mod manager installs. In one of the threads above, kinggath guesses that it might be a memory management issue. My computer is pretty decent though and since the problem still happens with brand new saves, I'm really at my wit's end trying to figure out what to do!

I've included several pictures for reference. Presumably Tower0.png is what the tower is supposed to look like?

Edit 1: I just went around the corner to my workshop bench and when I came back I found a store counter that had been visable before was now invisible, so it doesn't appear to be limited to reloading/fast traveling.

I've been having the same issues, missing clutter, supports, whole walls, stretched textures, etc. No amount of sorting my load order or other mods seems to fix this. Hopefully it'll get patched or something. I never noticed this since conqueror though.

I just tried disabling sli and it restored my missing objects. I don't know what you're running but if you are using an sli or the amd equivalent give that a try.

Hi Asalith, thanks for the response! I do actually use SLI, I have a pair of 980 ti's. I'm out of town for another week or so for the holidays, but I'll check as soon as I get back. Super super hopeful that this will solve my issues as well!

Wow, Asalith, thank you SO much! Disabling SLI fixed my issues and solved a 2 year old mystery. I had no idea Sanctuary was supposed to look so pretty!

disabling SLI also quadroupled my framerate in Sanctuary, so that's pretty excellent as well

Sweet! I just came to the same conclusion reading through some old SS1 posts. Turning off SLI worked for me as well. I will try using it in Alternate Rendering modes and see if that makes a difference.

Ok I created a custom profile for FALLOUT.EXE. You do this in your NVIDIA Control Centre (not NVIDIA GeForce Experience). Then select SLI Rendering mode and set it to Alternative Rendering 2. You can use the 1, it solves the invisibility issues but i get better framerate with Alternate 2. I have not tried Single-GPU mode as this essentially renders your second GPU inert.

Be cautious NOT TO CHANGE global settings, not the end of the world but could effect other games.

UPDATE: Alternate Rendering 2 seems to dim some lights and diminish shiny objects reflectings. from bright chrome to almost black. Perfectly playable though. But to resolve the issue without paying this price is to use Alternate Rendering 1 after all. With a dip in frame rate.
