There was a very promising mod released a couple of weeks ago. The Mod seemed as if it would have been a shoe-in at some point for integration into SS officially, and definitely, at least in my opinion a valuable addon to existing playthroughs... That Mod was Settlers Legends. Does anyone know what happened to it? I was really looking forward to using it alongside my SS install for all sorts of Settler/Companion spawning training & fun.
I've found some of the typical "He said this and that" info in a couple of places but it seems like it should be taken with a grain of salt. Does anyone know what the real deal is with this mod? I'm sure I could still use it, but something with as much out of the gate functionality and future potential seems like it would be a real BIT^H to use without support.

I'm keeping it. :)

I hope he comes back, but it doesn't look good :(

Given how folks/users can get when you have a hot mod any number of things could have happened?

Authors do it for free, maybe not such a good thing that there were such high expectations for it right out of the gate. Myself included :(

I use other mods like that, example "IMP" it was popular but..... others seemed to have so many issues with it that he pulled it. Funny, I have used it so long and never experienced those issues.

I can appreciate though that they want others to enjoy their creations. Here I am worried the author might have just gotten overwhelmed with all the folks making suggestions of how they should move forward with it and maybe the author wanted something else? Don't know?

Yep, sadly this is one, I will miss. :cray:search Author and Creation!

Case of ignoritis with modding + bad mods = conflicts and “it’s your fault”? So the author decides he’s had enough?

(No idea, just wondering/speculation.)

A simply amazing idea he had with his mod. I love his video! :good

I think all anyone can do here is drop off to his video link and leave a like? :clap

Agreed @Whisper ... That type of mentality is TOXIC in the most kindest of terms...
It literally explodes my f'kin brain, when I see posts where ppl are trashing a mod authors work as if they put something out to intentionally disrupt a playthrough knowing that the questions and incessant whining will ultimately fall on them as the creator...

My first question is always posed to myself. "Ok, what did I bork, or which step did I miss." By the time I start asking in the forum I've usually tried everything I could find within reason.

Entitlement is the major issue I see with ppl who are receiving anything for free. Mods or otherwise. Couple that entitlement with some healthy portions of blame shifting self-centered thinking and lack of patience, there you have a recipe for "Your crappy mod broke my save, so now I'M triggered and you won't take time to help ME!!"...

Enough of that and I'd imagine even the most amiable and diligent of authors will start second-guessing his or her move to share their work as opposed to simply toiling away for their own enjoyment.
I really wish Id stored the write up about the mod while it still existed, as a means to fall on for tips while using it. Much like you said @RayBo I'm gonna give it a shot because I think it is worth it. In fact, I remember your post a little before my own on that page when the mod dropped. There were a lot of ppl myself included who EXPECTED big things outta that mod for sure. But in saying that ill follow it with this:

~ "The GREATEST Expectations are also the greatest dashers of dreams and the greatest source of unfulfilled hope across the faces and hearts of all humanity." ~

Abso-frickin’-lutely. I saw that writeup and video and thought: “next playthrough is gonna be awesomesauce”. Bummer that it was taken down.

When I get home I will give that vid a thumbs-up and a “please give it a chance again, not everyone is toxic” remark to encourage the author. They deserve that.

It amazes me how many people go straight to "Your mod doesn't work!" instead of "I can't get your mod to work."

But then, I'm amazed by how many people just can't be arsed to be decent in general.

Speculation as to why this is such a positive community: The common interest (Sim Settlements) is about *building* stuff, not shooting things.
I'd add that while regular shootin' stuff gameplay highlights plenty of bugs, you get a much better feel for the bugs, limitations of the engine, and game design when you get stuck into settlement building.

The other major thing about this community is KG didn't just make SS to share so others could use it, he made it so others can build upon it. And to support that goal this community is set up just as much for sharing stuff, as it is for education and support. Which has expanded into not just education and support for SS, but also more general modding stuff too.

Don't forget to grab the Horizons patch for Legends as well. Just in case that disappears too.

The comments on the Horizons patch also include some speculation about why it was taken down. No definitive answers though.

I was super impressed by the video, especially as it was a single mod author. I can't imagine the amount of work that went into it. I left a 'like'. Hopefully with some encouragement they may return.

Otherwise maybe they'll inspire others to take up the torch. I'd consider it myself, but I'm a long way off from that kind of modding.

No truer words spoken. If the words the author left are to be taken exactly at Face Value. It’s primarily Life that is impeding further development of the mod.
I’m sure that when you’ve put an immense amount of effort into creating something, it’s like giving a child away.
In those actions though lies one of the best gifts an author can give when they can’t continue.

Who knows?

I did watch the video last night. I’m gonna go back to the YT page and leave a comment also.

**Tried to create an amazing masterpiece of a Settlers Legends knock off through brainstorming and sketches**

Wound up with stick figures with nice booties and guns......

Decided to leave the heavy modding to the PROS and stay my lane and simply express my enjoyment of the work put out by ppl with real skill... LoL

hahahaa, "stick figures and all" It's all good as long as it's concept art.

Maybe I'll just stick with the shooting range.

With my luck, Preston would likely auto assign himself to that plot anyway.. :this
:shok1

THAT, would not be a good thing.
