With the release of Sim Settlements 2, I noticed that lots of people were asking how to get Sim Settlements 2 to work in VR. For the past year, I have been playing SS2 and SS1 in VR with over 150 mods. So I decided to make this post to help anyone who is trying to play SS1 or SS2 in VR.

This is version 2.0 of my guide. Version 1.0 had a ton of problems and was not very clear. In 2.0 I will also include some ways to fix some of the problems people ran into.

Downloading Sim Settlements 2:
What you will need:

1. Now make sure Fallout 4 VR(From now on I will call it FVR or F4VR) is installed on Steam. Open F4VR at least once, and then close it. Then Install Vortex (or whatever MM you have). Once you open Vortex go to the GAMES tab.

2. Now click on the Scan then click Scan: Quick.

3. Now it should pop up, but if it did not scroll down in Unmanaged until you find Fallout 4 VR. Click Manage.

4. Fallout 4 VR should appear in the top left. Now minimize Vortex and go to https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47976
Once you are on the page click files.

5. Now click MOD MANAGER DOWNLOAD under MAIN FILES.

6. A window will pop up, telling you you need these two mods:

7. Repeat 4-5 for these two mods.

8. When you click MOD MANAGER DOWNLOAD for these mods you will be brought to this page. Click SLOW DOWNLOAD.

10. Now if you go back to Vortex you should see them downloading in the DOWNLOADS tab.

11. Once they are done downloading click this Install All message.

12. Now this menu should pop up and ask you which game you want to download it to. (If you have the normal Fallout 4 it will appear here.) Click Fallout 4 VR.

13. Once it is down installing push Enable All.

You are now done downloading Sim Settlements 2.

Using FO4VREdit:

What you will need:
1. Follow the link and download FO4Edit.

2. It will download to your PC.

Capture17.PNG
3. Make a folder named FO4Edit anywhere on your PC.

Capture18.PNG
4. Right-click the download file and choose Extract files... and install it into that folder we made in step 3.
Capture19.PNG
5. Once that is done right-click FO4Edit.exe and choose rename. Rename it to FO4VREdit.exe.

Capture21.PNG
6. All right now open FO4VREdit.exe. Once you open it a few windows will pop up close them until you reach this window. CTRL-Right click these three files. Then push OK.
Capture22.PNG
7. It might take a few seconds but then this window will pop up. Click the little + icon to open it up.
Capture24.PNG

8. Now click File Header.
Capture23.PNG
9. Then go over to the right and double click 1.000000 in the version column.
Capture24.PNG
10. This Warning will pop up, wait 3 seconds then click Yes I'm absolutely sure.

Capture25.PNG
11. Change it to 0.95.
Capture26.PNG
11a. You will need to do this to the other mods we installed.
12. Then click the burger menu thing.
Capture28.PNG
13. It will ask if you want to save, click OK.
Capture27.PNG

You have now got Sim Settlements 2 "working" in VR.

Notes and Technical Fixes.
  • Every time you update the mod you will need to change the header to 0.95. Also every time you install an addon you need to change the addon's header to 0.95
  • When you open up the game you will get a pop-up that says "Unsupported runtime version (expected v1.10.163). Workshop Framework Identifier will be disabled. Check the mod page on NexusMods, it should be updated shortly after F4SE." This does not matter just push ok and the game will open.
  • If the magazine does not appear "Try deleting Fallout4Custom.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini. It worked for me." - DoubleNwah
  • When you use the vig-o-matic the text won't appear on the screen you have to put your face inside it.
  • If the HUDFramework pop-ups annoy you, just disable HUDFramework(It is not needed).
  • The addon SS2 Superstructures is glitched in VR. Buildings will just appear everywhere. It is explained well here https://simsettlements.com/site/ind...lay-sim-settlements-2-in-vr.13597/post-118457
Later updates to this post:
I will make a video in the future of the whole process to help.
I will also try to figure out how to get HUDFramework to work in VR.

Thank you so much for reading this! If you have any questions feel free to ask below and I or someone else will try and help you.

Just wanted to add my thanks for these instruction on how to get it working in VR, i have not long completed the first chapter so it definitely works, in the instructions it says " When you use the vig-o-matic the text won't appear on the screen you have to put your face inside it." you also have to do that with the ASAM sensor when selecting the first option.
So that people can see that it does actually work here is video of me meeting Jake in VR: https://odysee.com/@tcttgames:8/F4VR-Part4:4

I managed to run FO4Edit. I've done everything succesful, but game is not getting nowhere than main menu. Even vanilla. I'm out of juice with this fight...

right on thanks for this the FO4VREdit was quite the thing. that needed for basically any mod that has 1.00 in the version?
