Chapter 3 Teaser Trailer

They act just like the Chinese despots who aren't known for being champions of freedom and civil rights.
Liberty Prime liked that.
I'd ask if there is anyone at all known for that but wouldn't want this to devolve into a political rant :)
But destroying the Institute is such a travesty, because they offer some real hope of providing a real means to restore the Commonwealth, and ultimately America. They just need to drop their hatred of all other people.
1000% this. I'm still not sure if it's good writing that the institute does what it does, it looks more like a shitty fanfic. Like if a player could do whatever they wanted, would they even make fake gorillas and replace farmers who'd use their crops anyway (and not make synths sexy or drugs with super powers or super weapons or at least a bar). Though messing with the FEV and destroying wannabe governments checks out.

Well, I have friends in Japan, Taiwan, Israel and Europe who are very nervous about three rogue regimes and a little Rocket Man pushing the world around, while western leaders seem to be staring at their teacups for guidance. This planet really seems devoid of leadership, much like the situation prior to WWII.

As for eggheads doing whatever they want, the Institute might be the most powerful organization on the planet, save for the Enclave. And I think you know what they say about power corrupting and all the rest of that. The Soviet Union and China were supposed to be People's Paradises too, and we have plenty of other precedent on how human nature works out. I seem to recall something about them playing God.

How the ending of Chapter 3, and any subsequent episodes go, I'm hoping for a hum dinger from his majesty and team. Bethy has provided a lot of story infrastructure to play with, and if they take advantage of the latest in A.I. vocal processing, like someone used in a mod for Fens Sherriff's Dept, then literally anything is possible.

Depends if you mean directly prior or some time before, and if it's leadership of their own country or the world as a whole I guess... Not many who'd want to shape the whole world into a better place (and not conquer it or exploit it) but that's kinda rare overall. Usually comes at the expense of themselves or their country so makes sense.

Supposed to, in the eyes of their people, but that's propaganda that was never meant to come true. At least that's what I think. Power corrupts, that's for sure. It takes someone exceptional to have all the power and not get corrupted. With great power comes great responsibility and all that.

Still dunno how or where that power comes from. They were a bunch of scientists in a bunker that decided to dig deeper, not a government with resources and a contingency plan. It'd be more realistic if they ended up as cave people.

When the whole civilization is basically leveled, it doesn't require much of a starting advantage to become dominant over time. Any advantage in resources or technical knowledge (one of the Institute's major advantages) is going to quickly reinforce itself, giving them access to more resources and more knowledge. Particularly when it comes to more tangible resources, it is a bit of a zero sum game. If the Institute gets out of the gate early and goes out and reclaims a bunch of resources then obviously competing groups will not benefit from those resources further slowing their development, further increasing the Institute's lead, etc. Having such a huge lead also appears to have locked the Institute into a fairly ruthless attitude. If other groups were more advanced, trading with them would appear more attractive and a more humanitarian approach might result in tangible benefits for them. As it stands, other groups in the Commonwealth can't really offer much that the Institute can't do better on their own. The recently arrived BoS would be a potential counter example but they are openly and deeply hostile to the Institute so no real chance for cooperation there. The same goes for the Enclave. Enclave leaders have zero interest in sharing power with another group and don't appear to have had a large presence in the Commonwealth at any point anyway.

^ Precisely. Assuming that CIT is much like MIT, a fair assumption, then CIT will have been involved in a lot of the technical innovation between industry, tech, medicine and the military. Using that cutting edge technical foundation and keeping it functional would give them a solid advantage over any other group, even the Enclave. Heck, they developed generations of android Synths and working teleportation.

I'm going to be keeping watch to see if "a certain group" makes an appearance in Ch 3.

Welp, it's official now. Starfield is coming out September 6th of this year. If Kinggath can't beat that timing it will be because he broke all his fingers and went blind, deaf, and dumb.

Eh, sounds kinda rude but you have a point. I'm positive ch3 will take long but not half a year :)
(famous last words)
I just realised this isn't the speculation thread, but the trailer one. Oops. Anyway, Starfield looks cool and all, but nothing to really hook you in. Still more excited for ch3.

I hadn't meant to be rude. Sorry if it came across that way. I was trying to say it would be impossible for him not to beat Starfield's schedule. He'd have to be virtually dead.

hmmm... It seems I need a time machine to create time .. I want to finish chap 1 and 2 before hitting 3

You probably have a couple months so should be easily doable unless you only have a few hours a week to play.

At the moment I am at 10 hours+ a day and I just have an office Job though working from home. so little time to play . it will be better in the coming months though. going through a reorganization with outsourcing though I am on the positive side.

How do you guys voice the Sole Survivor in modded conversations? Do you have the actual actors working with you guys? AI? Cut voice lines? I’ve just been pretty curious
