Chapter 3 Teaser Trailer

Thanks. I always wondered how modders had voiced dialog
I mean I'm sure other mods have used that AI stuff, but even to my ear those still don't quite get tone exactly right, especially when aiming for any emotion other than "dead tired".

For example, the "HOLD ON" that Nate shouts at Lupe in that trailer, I'm 99% sure is the one from the prologue to the game when the shockwave from the nuke going off is about to hit everyone waiting for the vault elevator to start going down.

Aurelianis has been using an app which I believe is called Elven AI for the Fens Sherrif's Department mod to generate spoken dialog. And since most spoken lines are basic discussion in tone, it has worked very well for both Nate and Nora. kinggath might check this out since it would free up Sirick and the other writers to make pretty much whatever dialogue they want.

Some modders have taken a stance of hate for the Ai voice tools, saying it can replace voice actors.

I’m more in the middle ground. I think the Ai voice tools are great for adding lines to an already established dialog track, for example ss3 could have some much more dialog customization if it was used compared to clipping and pasting lines together.

the one thing I’m not fond of would be using it to do a whole voice package for a npc or something. That’s where a real person can be employed and better used.

either way it’s exciting and interesting what people are doing with the voice Ai tools.

Using tools such as SynthVA etc is great for having the SS say lines such as 'Corporal', 'President', 'Brigadier', 'Lieutenant' etc as these are single words that the SS doesn't say in vanilla dialogue but having entire lines from scratch is a stretch.

When an AI is trained on a person's voice, and then used to recreate that voice, both without that person's permission...no, that's not good. I'm actually about to uninstall and revoke endorsement of the Fens Sherriff's Department because the 2.0 update has incorporated an AI-driven voiced protagonist. I would hope the SS2 team would stay away from using such.

This is pretty much how I feel about it. Using AI for Nate and Nora and other existing NPCs I think is fine. It's really not much different than taking existing dialogue and splicing lines together to get the line you want. It's just faster and easier and gives you more dialogue options. I have my own mods that use VAs and I would never use AI to replace a VA for a new NPC.

I responded since my name was dropped. I realize this is a hot topic, and others are free to feel how they want on the subject. I'm not here to try to change anyone's mind. That's just my take on it and I'm just gonna leave it at that.

For one thing, the voice actors for Nate and Nora have already been paid handsomely for their work, essentially being the stars of the show. And as Aureliana said, splicing together existing dialog is basically the same thing as using an AI to generate dialog.

If anyone thinks that his majesty is going to cheap out and not hire voice talent to do lines for NPCs, that's a reach considering the talent he's already got in the cast.

I guess it's a good thing we arrived at this AI dilemma in 2023. Actual progress and all that. A little more and we can actually get Skynet :D

Well, the Technological Singularity is due any decade now. I'm expecting a certain charismatic world leader along with it.

The way time is crawling but not, for me, it's hard to say just how long it will seem until Chapter 3 drops. And if the team are really getting into the plumbing, I'm wondering if I should just plow into Fens Sherriff's Department and quit. The kind of work his majesty is doing might necessitate a new playthrough, and I could dig into Skyrim and Mass Effect, as well as more No Man's Sky in the meantime.

Not according to kinggath. :)
the new code has been perpetually worked into the existing live code in small chunks to ensure it will be compatible with existing saves the entire way.

I actually just started a new playthrough with SS1 and Conqueror. Never played them and I'm just trying to pass the time before CH3. I'm definitely more hyped for CH3 than I am for Starfield.

conquers is my favorite ss story line, it's a bummer it never got finished. as for chapter 3 or starfield that's tough I want both just not at the same time.

Well, I have friends in Japan, Taiwan, Israel and Europe who are very nervous about three rogue regimes and a little Rocket Man pushing the world around, while western leaders seem to be staring at their teacups for guidance. This planet really seems devoid of leadership, much like the situation prior to WWII.
personaly i think lots of leaders did learn a valuable lesson from there history books about prelude to WW2 for instance the fact that there not even considering Russia to keep crimea and that there Supporting Ukrain with lots of material shows that they know appeasement like during the chamberlain peace deals wont work!

And Yes Russia has a huge army and massive nuclear stockpiles but when looking at how badly Russia is doing in Ukrain one has to wonder if this ineptitude also is endemic in the other branches of the Russian militairy ?

And for those that are still trying to go for peace at all costs specialy in my country the Netherlands i keep telling them if we dont send those supplys to Ukrain now inside 2 years your sons and daughters wil have been drafted to defend nato soil near Warschau because i doubt Putin wil stop before the old Warschaupact is firmly under Moskou control!

Russia have seriously embarrassed them self's on the world stage and i expect they can NOT recover from this massive mistake. Lessons learned let that bridge burn. ;)

Ok, folks. Nothing is being removed, and I am not giving any warnings other than this general statement:

Please keep it to screenshots, Fo4, SS, help, Sharing, and other cool things that bring us together.

I don't think anyone has crossed a line here, but we seem to getting a little close to the edge on the Politics. :friends

Agreed, let's get it back on the topic of gaming! (Back to my hole to work on Chapter 3...)
