As per warning - spoilers! If you haven't gone through to the end of the game yet, and you don't want that spoiled for you, turn back now.

Popcorn and random comments are welcome. :)
===============================================================================
So this thread is going to be my "record" as it were of how I plan to systematically execute the Brotherhood of Steel. And then the process of execution.

Reason: In my game (at least) they lose vertibirds left-right-center. Always grouchy and stern and staunch and military asshole-ish when you say "hello" to them. Seriously, they come across pathetic as a faction.

Generally I simply shrugged and left 'em to it. No interest in joining at all. However.

The crowning insult (for me) was the way that they lost a vertibird to some supermutants down the road (4-5) and dumped the burning remains into the edge of my freshly-started L0 city. Seriously, they're kidding, right? Miniguns, lasers, trained soldiers in Power Armor, and they can't kill a group of supermutants from the air?

Now it's war.

Being a stealth-dude, I'm going to be fighting on my terms. Infiltrating from within. Before the assassin strikes.
===============================================================================
In here there will be rough ideas, planning, revisions, the results of tests, all that good stuff. (Spoilers, remember? You wuz warned! Bwahahahaahhhh!!!)

Ultimately, I'm hoping that I can make a clean sweep of the Prydwin and loot the damn thing from stem to stern. Every damn scrap of BOS junk mine. Random screenshots of various points of interest along the way.

Including my personal thoughts (spoilers!) of what they are saying at various points within the process - and what I think they translate as. 'Cause while I've not done the BOS storyline at all, I have some rather "interesting" ideas. (I'll throw some thoughts regarding the Institute into the process as well.)

Hopefully I end up leaving Danse up there, bewailing the loss of his brothers and cursing my name for a long, long time.

Eventually, I'll work on blowing the damn Prydwin outta the air around his ears, just like the supermutants are doing with all the BOS vertibirds.

Hopefully it turns out to be entertaining for y'all. =D

My poor settlement.

Anyone got some popcorn to share?

Rough and general plan of assassination:

1/ Start the Institute line of things, just enough to get the ability to teleport away. (Needs testing with opponents nearby.)

2/ Get up to the Prydwin and start the process of sleazing my way into their confidence.

3/ Start shooting people, beginning at the top:
a) Drop a bunch of mines into a location and blow them up with a well-placed shot (needs testing)
b) Just start shooting them with The Last Minute from stealth mode (for me this has around 400 base damage per shot, +50% limb damage = a whopping 600 damage per shot - with 4.8x damage from stealth attacks, +3x damage from critical hits - total of 7.8x damage multiplier, or 4680 damage!)

4/ Go through the damn Prydwin like a divine wind, shooting everything in sight:
a) If possible, keep shooting Danse in the legs so he can't follow me all the time and getting in the way
b) If I have to, console his protected status away

5/ If it gets really hairy (I have picked up heaps - over 800 - stimpacks and can easily make more) leave:
a) Teleport away to the Institute
b) Jump (I have a pair of acrobat legs, a couple of legendary drops with the same effect as the Freefall Legs)

Adapt and adjust as necessary.

Current/Initial State of play -
Level: 94
Played: 16 days 5 hours 38 minutes

Weapon: The Last Minute
Desired: Gauss Reflex Sight and Suppressor
Required: 2 more ranks of Gun Nut
20181003203937_1 (Large).jpg
VATS: 8 shots

Weapon: Quickdraw Quad Barrel Missile Launcher
Desired: None, current state is great (this is what I used on the Mirelurk Queen, though at that time I could only manage 4 shots in VATS)
20181003204816_1 (Large).jpg
VATS: 6 shots (by going ultralight armor mods I can get that up to 7 shots)

Weapon: Big Boy (WOOOT!)
Desired: None, current state is WOOOOOT!!!
20181003205202_1 (Large).jpg
VATS: 4 shots (by going ultralight armor mods I can get that up to 5 shots - but why bother? Heck, I'll do it anyway. Just for shits and giggles.)

Armory complete.

Note: 2 levels to gain, which should be easy enough as I sleaze into both the Institute and Brotherhood of Steel.

Note:
5: You can't teleport/fast travel while in combat.
If you're inside the Prydwin, the fight is on until everyone is dead. Named NPC's will come from the other levels.
Trying to exit will result in NPC's being on top of you woopn arse, even before the screen fades back in. LOL
Going to the top level by the door, entering stealth mode and then picking off NPC's a couple at a time works pretty well.. but takes a long time and can backfire with the whole ship filing up the stairs for a piece of that fine wastelander arse.
Using Bullet Time.. well that's fun, but waaay to easy. LOL

Clearing the airport is fun with rows of carefully placed mines. Then agro one of the guards. If laid out correctly, you only have fire 1 shot. :)

You can also pick off the 3 on the exterior from the ground. They can't hit the broadside of a brahmin at 2 paces.. let alone that far.

I usually put Maxon in a Laundered Pink dress. Just for fun. LOL

Thanks for the advice. :)

I love the getting into the Institute part LOL.

Yes...kidnapping, murder, control...your scientific straightjacket around the rest of humanity, to be tightened when they don't do exactly as you want...

--edit--
It, it...him, him...you seem conflicted, son. Deactivate a synth like any other machine, say that it's an interesting experiment, then try to ask and act as if you view "it" as a person, while simultaneously admitting that in your mind "it" is not a person or boy...and you ask the Sole Survivor to try and keep an open mind?

Threatening a synth, as if the synth were both a machine and human. More interesting mental dichomy and confusion is displayed within the Institute:

Or perhaps this is not mental dichomy and confusion. Maybe it is something more directly sinister and overt.

If this is a machine, it is not going to be affected by threats. Therefore, threatening it lacks purpose. Simply repair it or send it to be disassembled and made into something useful. Situation fixed.

If this is a person, then they are going to be affected by threats. To threaten someone in this overtly arrogant manner - to treat them as a person that you have ultimate power and control over, threatening to destroy them as if they were a worthless piece of machinery - displays the underlying mentality of master to slave.

Interestingly, this observation seems to corroborate the attitude/actions that the Institute has displayed towards the rest of humanity: kill or replace, as required. The Institute has full power - and the right of full power - over the rest of humanity. The rest of humanity are the Institute's slaves, in the Institute's eyes.

The Sole Survivor's son is/was a slave - a "resource" - in the Institute's eyes. "It" is required for an experiment, so acquire "it" at whatever cost. Slaughter "it's" mother as well. "She" doesn't matter. Just another slave, there are plenty more where that one came from.

Even the Sole Survivor himself is/was a slave - an "interesting experiment" - in the Director's eyes. Shaun becomes curious, has his "father" released, and observed as "he" wanders the wastelands in search of "his" son. The son demonstrates clearly in his own terminal that he has absorbed what appears to be the full attitude/lessons of the Institute as a whole.

Further considerations:

1/ Nick saying that the Institute representative to the CPG killed the rest of the representatives.

2/ Father saying that the CPG fell into pointless bickering and conflict, and that it was a disaster.

#1 is observed behavior, the master killing or destroying the disobedient or disruptive slaves.

#2 is arrogant behavior, the master admitting that they were disappointed by the slaves.

Disaster? Because the slaves didn't toe the line that you wanted them to? So they were executed as an example to the other slaves? (Privateer II: The Darkening - "Let your death be an example to others.")

Expressing frustration at a machine? As if it were the only reason that he cannot get his sweetie? "It" is being deliberately obstructive and annoying, rather than the people in Bioscience who made the decision to remove Supplement 77 from the menu?

Tch. Taking frustrations out verbally on a machine is pointless.

Taking frustrations out verbally on a person is more common and pointed, again from a position of control - master and slave mentality is displayed once more?

And yes, I know that this is all old hat to you-all. I'm just having a bit of fun in the process. :dance2

Just another lab-rat...an "it"...a resource to be used. Rather absent-mindedly, as it were.

After you've cleared the Prydwen, don't miss the chance to snipe the Airport from the flight deck.

I just recently learned how to throw objects, and now I need to see how far I can throw a basketball from the Prydwen.

You can throw random objects?

How does that work with the Demolition 2 visible throwing arc?

I use a controller. Once you pick up an object, hold down the X button, when you let go, you throw it. Longer you hold the button (up to an undetermined point), the farther it goes.

No visible arc.

Tricycles are my favorite projectile, there's a lot of animation as they fly.

I took an hour to do something game-playing-related, instead of: city building, road trips, and attempting to make a plot. Wait, sleep must belong in there somewhere. :lazy

Let's deconstruct the Institute mentality some more, in Robotics (synth creation):
20181008235811_1 (Large).jpg
I think that Curie might have a few pointed words to say about the way you-all use your synth/machines. Yes, it's far more comfortable to think of them as machines - so you can do what you want with them. No guilty little thoughts about slavery, are there?

And in the SRB:
20181009002420_1 (Large).jpg
Then why are they gone? What, you think that the Railroad have infiltrated your super-secret base and are smuggling them out through the secret caverns that you-all don't know about? That they specially seek out surface synths and kidnap them, forcing or brainwashing them into getting mindwiped and released as ordinary people?

Tch tch. Sleep calls - night!

"I find your servile mentality disturbing."

Izzat so?

Arrogance personified, "I am the only one who can save the world from this!"20181022111524_1 (Large).jpg
Surprisingly easy to kill, though. Gun Fu has it's perks (pun intended).

I shall reload and play a little more, so that I get an idea of what the ship is like - before I start my real slaughter-spree.

I'm doing more'n just taking you down, drone. I'm taking down the whole damn lotta ya.

So theft of Brotherhood supplies is a common thing? Pfeagh, some rats eating out the guts of "paradise" - which the Brotherhood sure ain't.

Sounds just a little bit suspect, buddy. And Paladin Danse seems to be reasonably agreeable with it too. *gives both of 'em the stinkeye*
