Major AWKCR and Armorsmith Extended updates!

AWKCR 5.0 is kinda buggy right now. The decals and all the stuff added seems really cool, I like that you can change colors on armors now. Sadly I get a CTD whenever I use the new workstations and my Raider Power armor isn't seen by Power Armor benches anymore. Lots of reports over on Nexus about CTD when using the benches.

I know these are two things I can't live without, and I suspect many of you are the same -- major updates to
Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource (AWKCR):
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6091
and
Armorsmith Extended:
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2228

VIS-G, :crazy

not vis.x.x

Oh, I think this just got a whole lot more entertaining.

Seems like mostly a new mod? So, will have to see what to do with all them patches?

edit - Well, well. I don't recommend this to anyone but 26 less esp's later.

I'm saying just 2 things:

SWEEEEET!!!

Yea, I saw VIS-G was coming- now i’m excited to try it. Anything to get rid of all those VIS patches and the sometimes buggy Radrose things.

I’ve cleaned out just over 30 slots / files from my load order. This is turning into a, “really good thing”. But I needed to dig to weed out everything. Forgot just how persuasive vis really was!

one ☝️ note, for folks who like me, can’t contain themselves and want to go vis-G

read this!

An update to VIS-G has been posted:
Version v1.2
  • Bugfix: fixed Ingredients typo
Added the DEF_INV_TABS.xml so now you won't be able to be missing it based on the options you choose while installing DEF UI.
Yea, I have a LOT of VIS patches too; gonna take a bit to figure out what to toss in the bit bucket before changing over. Probably will just disable things rather than delete them outright at first, and then add them back as needed, since from what I gather, VIS add-ons/patches should still work if necessary.

Yeah, I think I am going to continue with the old versions for a little while and wait for the dust to settle.

Maybe... That is the point of VIS-G, but I would wait till it settles down a little bit before trying to switch over. Also, unless someone says different, I would be hesitent to try ans switch over in an ongoing game that is working well.

EDIT: A question for anyone using mod added power armor (such as X-02 or X-03). Does the new version of AWKCR still break the ability to upgrade, repair mod added PA?

The latest AWKCR includes an optional patch to fix power armor crafting issues, so it may be solved?

Discovered VIS G viewing this thread, and I decided to risk it and did the switch. Now I'm thinking of not using any of them. I discovered that I preffer no categories at all (less clicks = better, more clicks = worse), since I don't have to click so much to eat a food for example. And if I were to use one of them, I would go with old VIS, because didn't have those unnecessary categories. In VIS all the food was in the same category (even if it was a Razorgrain, for example), and now eveything has separated catogires (razorgrain goes into the Resource category).

The sad things is that the items names are kinda "fixed" on the savefile, so even if I remove VIS/VIS G the items name will remain the same, so I guess I'll just stick with it until the next playthrough.

And thank you for the heads up about the updates! I don't use Armorsmith extended, but will update my AWKCR version.

I've generally found the food, holotapes, e.g. anything that can't even theoretically be modded et al updates immediately. Weapon and Armor you will need to drop and pick up - works about 95% of the time with armor, 60% of the time with weapons, and yes if it didn't fix it the first time it may very well work the second, third etcetera.

I always have a few odd items that dropping/picking up never fixes and have to remove/re-add a silencer or something to update; That works 100%, but it's a lot easier to drop/pick up 200 items three times and them mod 7 than mod 200 items.

And of course none of that affects anything you renamed.

Now that you said, I remember doing the same thing one time (almost 3 years ago when playing FO4 for the first time lol) because I had installed the game with my local language and then changed to English, the items names weren't updated until I drop'em and pick'em up again. Thanks for reminding me!

Yea, I tried VIS-G and the more I used it, the less I liked it. I may actually just try it with no sorting mod for a while, and if I don't like that, go back to the original VIS. I have a new (commando) character I started playing, so she doesn't have much of an inventory yet -- I'll try it out on her.

Yeah, I'm finding VIS-G really unstable, plus, honestly, he's making a lot of decisions that go *way* beyond 'Sorting Mod'.

Still, I like having a sorting mod; I'm playing with FO4edit to get a mod the way I want it now that I know a bit more about how that works. I need to figure out how to get weapon/armor renaming to work but even just the bit I've figured out is pretty cool - I like being able to sort ammo, food, chems et al.

I went back to the original VIS -- it didn't take me long to decide I was just too used to having a sorting mod to play without one. :)

Hahaha I did the EXACT same thing as you. Tried VIS-G, didn't like, tried without sorting mod, closed the game after 2 minutes after realizing that can't play without sorting mod, reinstalled VIS and all the patches.

I was going to create a thread for this but since we're on the subject already...
Now I have a problem. most guns and armor don't have icons (like 10mm, pipe pistol, leather armor, I only have these since I started a new game). The other tabs were fine. When installing VIS, I made sure to check the DEF_INV (All tags) to apply tags for the weapons too.
I'm using TruBy9 with HUDFramework, DEF_UI and DEF_INV, VIS, Radrose, Updated ICONLIBS2 for DEF_UI, and the Assorted compatibility patches (in this exact order with assorted compatibility loading last, wich I believe would be the correct order). I tried MANY combinations or tried to change the load order without success. Tried only using DEF_INV, or just VIS, no luck.
Someone knows what might be happening? :(
