Also the file size was a bit larger than expected because I forgot that xbox archives can't be compressed. It has made me relook at the archives, though, and I think there are a few things in the archive that I intended to use and then decided not to, so the file size may go down before it goes back up again. Still confident I won't top 120 MBs though.
So far, a couple of things crash the game. The Yagisan industrial and the 3x3 residential. Several others have worked though. I’ll keep you posted. I thought it might be the dynamic aspect but the internal house works.
Is it possible that the dynamic could go weird if you have the CC but haven’t done the quest? Only because that’s where I was. Then again, like I said, the internal worked, but maybe it doesn’t try to draw from all of them. Dunno, that may be meaningless but just a thought I had.

Hmm, that's especially strange - the Yagisan Industrial doesn't use anything but vanilla assets and doesn't have any of the randomized decorations so that is not one I would expect to crash. It is large and kind of busy, so maybe it's just too much for the xbox to handle. Also weird that the 3x3 crashes but the internal doesn't - they draw from a lot of the same formlists. The only difference I can think of is that they both use holiday decorations, but I'm pretty sure the SS2 base version for Xbox has those. Only thing I can think is if I forgot to pack the stage models but I checked and they are in the archive. They're also both tall? Just trying to understand what could be going wrong there. I will try to review the spawns again and clutter to make sure they don't pack any assets that KG labeled "PCONLY" but I've usually tried to avoid those like the plague.

I did just think of one thing that might help me diagnose the issue, though. Can you try turning off clutter in the performance settings briefly, then trying to build those plots and seeing what happens? Also, related, could you try building the 2x2 "Glory Days" if you are able? That one has some dynamic elements in it too - that would again help me narrow down the problem for me if you don't mind giving it a shot.

I can confirm that Wasteland Venturers also uses Holiday decorations and it never given my xbox any issues. They do have it.

I’ll try it in a bit.
Also, Wasteland Venturers hasn’t caused any problems, except that all the 1x1 commercials crash the game. Just for whatever that might prove.

Huh, that is also bizarre. One other question - when does it crash? Does it crash as soon as it starts building or when you select the plot, or somewhere after it finishes construction? That also might help me investigate this better. I'm honestly a little big stumped because a lot of the dynamic decor stuff on Modern Life is Rubbish is pretty minimal at Level 1 and, as I said, Yagisan Industries doesn't even have any of it and is also pretty minimal at level 1. But if it's crashing before it even finishes construction that is a whole different situation.

Actually, that’s my bad, I meant to say that because that’s what Tinuvia asked me as well.
So, to try to describe this - and I’ll try to make sure I’m paying attention for future ones - the Yagisan one crashed basically as soon as it started the process of actually building.
So, you drop the plot, some filler junk shows up… then you go to select the one you want, the filler junk goes away to switch to the, I guess, Yagisan plot filler junk, Boom Crash.
The residential got to where I could see the frame of the building was there before it crashed. So, from my utterly ignorant position on these things, seemed like a step further.
I’ll do more testing.

So, quick update. I went out to Spectacle Island which I hadn’t been to yet just to have room to throw down a lot of testing and there are a lot of 3x3. I turned off clutter, that seems to make no difference. Tried Yagisan again and same crash, but I don’t even have settlers there so it couldn’t have gotten to building. Same with residential 3x3. It’s just trying to switch to the filler junk or whatever.
Tge baseball one worked fine.

Version 1.4.5
  • After some issues were reported with the "Robot Parade" Building Plan, I decided to change it from being unlockable to being included in the base Advanced Martial plots. You should see it available now once you unlock Advanced Martial plots. Completion of Star Control no longer required (it didn't work before anyway!) Enjoy Mr. Frothy's on patrol to keep your settlement safe. Also, they've been beefed up strengthwise, so they should be much better sentries now.
  • Revamped "Glory Days" building plan. Now contains Dynamic Decor elements, but is still very much a basesball shrine.
  • Creation Club Noir Penthouse content now included in Dynamic Decor after completing the "Early Retirement" quest. Get your art deco on.
  • New additional elements incorporated into Dynamic Decor - stocked Nuka Cola, Vim, and Sunset Sarsparilla machines, as well as Pra's Arcade Terminals. Thanks for the permissions, @pra !
And, for the first time, you can find the newly-released Xbox version here - Bethesda.net! Hope I don't crash your games too bad @Dutch77 and @SunnyGrl . Let me know if you have troubles and I'll see what I can do about it.
Yay! Thank you so much! Downloading it now. I'm still leaving plenty of space for any updates should it go up, so I'm not too worried. Will keep you posted. Thanks again for all of your hard work!

Then I am well and truly stumped. It could be something with the the "Level 0" of the plot - the thing that goes in place of the default building materials, but I just spent a lot of time checking it and the Yagisan one is 100% base game, vanilla stuff. No special textures, nothing like that, so I have no idea what might be causing it. I can only recommend that you steer clear of those building plans, I guess.

I hear ya. Like I said, this is exactly what happens with Wasteland Venturers 1x1 Commercials despite everything else in the mod working.
They all crash exactly the same. As I said, that generic stuff goes down then once you pick the plot you want and give it a second, the generic stuff disappears then wait a second or two and bam.
By the way this same thing also happens with the Superstructures one on a couple of the Industrials if I remember right.
So far, I don’t have production or high tech martial and haven’t been to Nuka World but here’s what I have to this point.
Glory days works
I’ll be home for Xmas works
Modern Life crashes.
Them Changes works
Old World both sizes work
Wasteland Tea works
Winter Wonderland Bar crashes
Yagisan crashes
Everything that is agricultural works
One More Coffee works
All Mixed Up works
Silent Night works
Robot Parade works
Atomic Tan crashes
Wasteland Boxcast works

I know it probably hardly matters when it doesn’t make sense that they crash but there it is.
I know this is something obviously a little bonkers but at least it’s some information. Maybe kinggath has an idea. Maybe if there are enough that crash somehow it would make sense that there is something in common.
just FYI also, I tried everything that crashes at least twice and it different settlements.

Either way though, it’s a lot that do work and some very cool ways to get variety in settlements.

Let me ask you this - as an Xbox player, if I released to Xbox at its current size ~60MB and simply stated that my target final size for the mod is under 100MB so you'll need to reserve that much in your load order, would you be fine with that knowing that I'm going to be adding more stuff and it's going to go up in size? This is my concern because I don't want to be breaking people's playthroughs. Especially with SS2 Chapter 2 likely releasing some time in the near future.
As a former Xbox player, allow me to give you the logic I always gave content creators.

We have 2Gb of allowed space for our mods. SS2 takes half of it by itself. Personally, and I think many agree, after that I want to have as much as possible for my Mb. Wasteland Venturers 2 being 300Mb including 150+ high quality, creative plots doesn't bother me as much as a 50Mb for 3 or 4 plots.

Also there are 3 Xbox ones models. I had the middle one (Xbox One S), I understand that the original one had bigger problems with Sim Settlements and the more recent one (X I believe) was a bit more capable.

I also never recommend to anyone on Xbox to use city plans because Xbox and going over the build limit has never been kind to my saves.

I have already looked at the rest of the thread and I'm sorry I am unable to help more than this but I thought it was worth adding this here for both you and the players discussing it.

I have to second this. When ever I pushed my build limit over 150-200% I would always start having problems. I literally set an Xbox on fire with a build I did for Vault 88. I am not joking. Thing sounded like a Harrier jump jet about to take off and then poof! This is also why I do not release my City Plans for XBox cause some are made to even push modern machines. Current build has 70 settlers in Sanctuary and it done with 95% plots. Who's afraid of the ToD? Not me. LOL.

I know what you mean as a former xbox player myself - I had the original XB1 and it struggled mightily with City Plans and SS1. When I upgraded to an XB1X (not the brand new series x of course, the precursor to that) suddenly I had no problems at all. I could run city plans. I could push it like crazy, go over build limits, do tons of pre-builds in conqueror, etc. so I know there is a huge variation in the different models because my original XB1 probably would have shat itself if I had tried to do that stuff with it. It's just wild these crashing reports because I truly have no idea what could be causing it. If there was plot randomization and/or custom textures in play, then it would make sense. That's not the case with almost any of the reported plots that are crashing for @Dutch77 though, so I'm kind of stumped.

Just for full disclosure, I have an X, also not the Series X.
I wish I knew more about creating them and whatever is involved in getting them to Xbox. There’s got to be an answer but at this point it doesn’t seem like it can be anything you or other mod authors did exactly, except as something that makes no sense and shouldn’t be causing the problem.
It’s like it tries to put the plot but it has nothing to get so it can’t do anything and crashes.
Like I said though, at least a lot work and they’re very cool.

It's sad that you all have the limits you do on space to begin with but I get it. After I blew up my last Xbox a plain old One, way before I started using Sim Settlements, I just said to heck with it and got a PC that could handle at least the vanilla game and SS1. I just couldn't do the restrictions on Fallout anymore. There are way to many great mods out that you just can't get on XBox. It also gave me modding access to Fallout New Vegas and that's all needed to be sold on PC again for ever. Thankfully I have a machine now that can handle SS2 and all the bells and whistles. It was the push I needed to get back into PC gaming and move away from console.

So I figured I'd give an update since I have been able to play a bit with the mod. I seem to be having the exact same issues as @Dutch77 . I looked over his list of the plots that work/crash and it seems to be all the same for me as well. I can place the plots that cause these crashes, however, as soon as they are starting the build process, this is when the crash occurs. I am also using the Xbox one X (not the new series X, but the console before that).

I do need to add that if I am just not able to use a few particular plots, I am absolutely okay with that...because the ones that do work bring such a great experience to the game for me, that the good far outweighs the bad. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games and one that I always come back to...and always pretty heavily modded. I usually never really have any game breaking issues...however, as an Xbox user, I know that I go into it with the possibility that anything can go wrong at anytime. The time I've spent messing around with mods (the order, compatibility, etc.) is probably embarrassingly high, but it's all part of the experience that I am okay with because it only makes the game that much better for me. Again, the good outweighs the bad. I know that creating mods, as well as playing with them, for PC is better in every way, especially because of the lesser restrictions...but this community is always willing to offer content and help to everyone when they are able to and that's why I appreciate it so much. So if we're able to figure out the issues, that's awesome. If not, I am still super happy to have the mod.

Do you have a custom L0 model set? Maybe there is something in the nif the xBox doesn't like... As a test, you could have it use the default model.
I do have a custom L0 model set - but that usually is incorporated into the L1, the L2, etc. etc. so I could swap to the default materials but that may just delay the inevitable because everything that is in the L0 model is going to also be in all the subsequent models. That is an easy fix to try, though, so I can make a quick update and with those changes and probably put that out tonight. It definitely seems as though it is an issue with that initial SCOL, like it can't quite generate it. Come to think of it, I could probably try to strip ALL the construction stages out just to make sure it is only pulling full NIFs from the archive - which should help the optimization of this sort of thing.

The thing that weirds me out though, and I’m sure you as well, is… sure, you could try this sort of fix, but how does it make sense? What if it works? What about all these plots is the same thing going wrong that is different about other plots?
I mean, if it worked, huzzah, but it would drive me just as batty as if it didn’t.
