Child Settlers Stuck With Prisoner/Hostage Mode

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I tried to search the forum wider for similar issue to no avail. So this issue actually had been with me since I started Chapter 3 from the earlier SS2 version (pre 3.1.x), where I was using Deep Clean Settlement mods which also can help in turning child settlers into full settlers (assignable to jobs and all that). We knew
certain settlements will be taken over by the gunners, such as warwick and somerville place
where these settlements has child settlers that I've mentioned.

Apparently, patches after patches of SS2, and these child settlers got stuck in hostage/prisoner mode where they were yelling for help all the time. I tried to use console commands to disable/enable, resurrect, recycleactor and the flag won't go away; I assume I had screwed up somewhere but had gone to far to restart from previous saves and kept going with this issue because these child settlers still continue with their job even though they were yelling for help all the time.

After updating to 3.2.0 I just realized that apparently there are additional context menu (similar one to manage soldiers) for prisoners, and when I opened it there are two options which is set free or ransom. If I choose set free, these child settlers were gone and cannot be returned using console command (moveto). So my questions are:
  1. Can we remove these hostage/prisoner flag with console command?
  2. If we set them free using the context menu, is it impossible to get these NPCs back?
Thank you for whomever takes the time to read this and give responses, much appreciated.

I noticed this issue as well yesterday. After retaking Somerville settlement from the Gunners, the two kids were showing the prisoner menu option after the settlement returned to my control (I chose Liberate). I selected the Set Free option, and they disappeared.

A while back, before the most recent couple of patches, there were issues with the prisoner system showing up on various NPC that shouldn't have the menu. For example, robots added by mods were showing the prisoner menu even if a settlement had never been taken over. The recent patch had corrected the issue, but it looks like they might have missed it in regards to children.

I'm guessing it'll be fixed in an upcoming patch, for now you just need to ignore the prisoner menu on kids.

Ah so it doesn't happen only to me then. Too bad I had set them free and now they are definitely gone lol... to retcon this issue I said to myself that they had grown up and left for capital wasteland. Now there are new settlers in their place.

There is an SS2 mod called 'Child Support'. It installs support for kids in SS2 animations - I doubt it will help but, maybie?
Also try running the Workshop Framework script override mod at the end of your load order will fix any scripts that get overwirtten.
