What Does the Next Gen Update Mean for SS2?

I really want to add SS2 to my first XSX playthrough when the next gen update drops on the 25th but I don't know if that will be possible. Many mods will be broken by this update and even if that were not the case I was never able to finish SS2 on the PC without using the console. It seems there is always some point when a glitch holds up progress and a quest needs a little help progressing to the next stage.

Will there be an update of SS2 for next gen purposes? It might look kind of stupid to play the new game with the old textures used by the unique outfits of SS2. I picture a room full of 4K NPCs with the exception of Jake with his old outfit. That is of course if there is enough room for mods because the original Xbox version only allowed 2GB of mods, so assuming that is expanded to a reasonable size or hopefully the limit is removed all together I could see my XSX being the first machine I play on capable of maintaining a high frame rate while playing SS2.

Could take a while but if all goes well it should eventually be fixed.

That is the feeling I am getting on the mods' part, and I don't think the script extender is going to break too idk..

will it break existing run through or do we need to start a new run through?
If you have a heavy mod load you will need to start a new run through as not all the mods may be updated at the same time. Also, I would think with updates to the main game files a new game is the way to go. That's how it worked with Skyrim.

Honestly, IDK. In my humble opinion, nine days isn't all that long to wait to find out. As is, the Script Extender will be broken.
It's kind of a two-choice situation right now.
1. Play a current-gen game and don't update the game or mods.
2. Play a next-gen updated game and test it with your load order for however long that takes. hahaha, Fo4 can be a really long game so testing a long load order might take a long time, as some mods add things at later stages of the game.
You can disable auto-updates in Steam and play right now, and likely have a good time, just don't update mods/game after the next-gen update hits unless the author says the update is for the older game version.
You can also test all the mods you want to use after the update now, and make sure whatever you want to use works today and then test and read all the comment sections for the mods you used to get some insight after the update hits.
edit- :blush
Sorry, I overlooked "xsx" oh boy, IDK in that case. On consoles, can you even disable auto-updates? If you can't, it might take awhile for the community to figure what works and who will update what.

So if I don't want to restart my current game, should I avoid updating anything until I finish this run?
Yes, that is correct. To do that you need to turn off auto updates in Steam. "see below"

But there can be exceptions.

But they would be driven by an individual mod being updated for the game version that you were on.

In that case, you may update the mod if that is what you want.
