I still want to spawn a "poop smith" visitor whenever we can hook the visitor code :) Or if the uniforms ever get full support... I know that's an old old todo on Kings list... hazmat suit or at least a surgical mask for the worker!
Does he wield a Poop Knife?

Surgical mask? Full face gas mask is more like it!! That'd be cool if it could be done.

As for the bad jokes...you have no idea. I torture my wife and kids with constant bad jokes :)

BTW, is there any mechanism in SS to allow for less happiness if a plot like this is too close to residential? I mean, the smell....

I don't believe there is a way to test if it is too close, but yes, I gave my compost a negative modifier for the smell... just to keep it "balanced" as I figured people trying to make ammo would need the fertilizer, so if they stacked up a whole lot of them... the place might not be the best place to live... I balanced the happy modifier with the stink value for the outhouse, as the settlers are slightly less happy it stinks... but still happier that they have it at all... I think the happiness modifier can go through the roof once the septic tanks come into play at 3rd level...

Yes that does make sense. Now I've personally used outhouses at cabins and farms...traditional outhouses and they don't smell outside of themselves much due to the hole in the ground. But in this arrangement with a bucket and a tank which amounts to virtually an open sewer it would stink. And with many people going multiple times a day it would get pretty ripe pretty quick. I mean even properly built sewage lagoons that are made to process waste naturally reek like crazy if the wind goes the wrong way (was like that in the small town I grew up in). They are open to the air after all.

Glad to see the stink is taken into account though and that a more modern design at level 3 would make people very happy.

Just got another idea, inspired by this:
The waste processing plant branches, it can either turn waste into fertilizer, or burn it for power. Both depend on the amount of waste produced, that is, produce the more fertilizer or power the more toilets you have :D

Hmmm...well thinking about the local waste processing plant, they have a tower that burns off the excess methane gas that's created from decomposing waste. I always wondered why they couldn't just collect it and generate power from it rather than burning it off for no purpose other than to get rid of it. The collected waste here could certainly be used for a function like power generation. Now I have no idea how much power you could generate in a system such as this, you'd be burning the methane as fuel for something that would generate the power and I have no idea how much gas you'd actually collect from fermenting waste. But I do know that the landfill in my city has a power generation system set up for collecting the methane gas from decomposing garbage and generates power from that. It can generate enough electricity to power 1000 homes for a year.

I actually have a bunch of notes next to my computer regarding a thermodynamic heat plant... not just from burnoff, of methane like mad max beyond Thunderdome, but also the heat that compost gives off on its own.... I didn't get it this update, but its still on the list of things I wanna do! :)

Wouldn't a tree, with some picket fence pieces to block views.... and surrounded by growing hubflowers etc be appropriate.... tree watering :)

A plumber or a roto rooter type guy as a visitor?

:)

Love the ruined world look regardless.

John

Viking has the Bedford Station settlement mod... has engineer caps and outfits (?) I think.
