Territory capture is a pain. (rant and suggestion)

Just as the title says, I go capture a territory and all of my guys turned into Guards for that location, then I have to manually assign them back into Warriors.
It sounds fine on paper, but having to interact with each of them, plus the wait time for the UI system to pop up... Urrrg, reassigning 12 or 13 guys can take up to 10 minutes or more, including the time you have to run around to find them.

Can there be an option in the system where the Guards at territories are just a couple of random spawns that get placed there automatically after you capture a territory while your Warriors are free to return home after each capture?
 
There could also be an option to limit how many of your guys should stay at a territory. Not sure if that's possible.
There is also an issue I call "Darla, where are you goin'?": even after their roles are changed, soldiers keep going back to territories.

ALL of my outposts are empty despite leaving exactly one Guard at a territory and changing the others' roles back to Warrior. I will find all of my warriors around the last-ish territory I took just standing around. That's fine in a way since it doesn't make my outposts all cluttered, but what happens if someone attacks my outposts? lol
 
I re-took Egret but as soon as that happened all of the settlers I had working there fucked off and had their weapons taken away, weapons that took me a fuck ton of time to gather and tweak, is there a setting in the holotape that prevents that? Also where did my settlers go ?
