Question Sim Settements and SLI + Low FPS In a very specific area.

Has anyone else had issues with invisible chairs, tables, etc. particularly on internal plots? I have. It started to get really annoying. I normally had SLI with two Nvidia (RTX 2080 TI) cards and with ENB running so I disabled both and rebooted. I repeated the test from the same game save every time. With SLI enabled I can run the the game at 4k at 55fps minimal. Maximum 80 fps + texture mods and like i said an enb + reshade, with that said It cant be a "not enough memory issue" Im gonna try some things with Vsync, and report back. But does anyone else have this issue? It also effects Sim Settlement Conqueror as well, usually with floating skulls, missing tables and invisible totems.

@Branden - I had the same question back when I had dual 1080s. Its just a profile setting and won't affect your performance. If you don't set the profile exactly the way shown it won't work or you will have issues. It's very picky and fragile.

Thanks for the help with SLI guys, it seems to be working, as I now see the "SLI Link " from afterburner. But about the objects disappearing..... Also is it normal to have low fps, when looking towards sanctuary, after the raiders added their lovely decor? The area i'm referring to is just before the bridge to get to Sanctuary from Vault 111, I get lag spikes, like goes down to 26-30 fps. But as soon as I walk a little further it jumps back to 60fps. I even tested to see if it was my enb, I disabled the enb and no fps increase was attained. I checked if it was my texture packs, still nothing. Any help with these 2 things would be greatly appreciated.

if it helps I am now playing on 1080p, (My monitors Native Res) i was using 4k on an ultra wide monitor before, which performance wise wasn't bad but I would have to sacrifice my 9 grids. Oh which reminds me, I tried that to, switched back to 7 and 5 gridstoload, no dice.

@Branden - I had a very similar experience about a year ago trying to work out all the performance quirks. You do get points where the performance drops. The area you are referring too has allot of trees and plants and water. You might also find that the road between Santuary and Red Rocket dips as well. I found that experimenting with ugrids (while looking good) eventually broke my game. The engine was just not designed to cope with such large draw distances and craps itself in busy areas. I have moved back to standard UGrids settings and got better LOD textures to compensate.

I would recommend applying the settings section (Step 0) in BRB's modlist - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23556

These settings have had the stuffing tested out of them and are a great balance between stability and performance.

Does the monitor have the ability to go higher than 60mhz?
You shouldn’t be running any FPS caps at this point.
Your monitor should be set to either 120 to 144 as your cards should be splitting this load.

If working go to a FPS friendly area to test. Sanctuary is bad, once the engine is compromised the power advantages of hardware diminishes..somewhat
What you want is
120 FPS sli is 60 / card
144 FPS sli is 72 / card
This is the only way that the game physics will work as essentially they are functioning in the 60 to 70 FPS range even though the FPS counter is adding it from both cards so 120 FPS in the counter is 60 in-game @ 60 / card

I don’t believe you can drop your gridstoload once they have been increased.
Being they get bake into the save file at the highest setting that has been applied.

Being you can go from 5 to 7.
You cannot go from 9 to 7 to 5
You can lower the ini value but in-game it will display and perform at the highest value baked into the save no matter what the ini value says.

To lower it you have to start an entirely new save game.

To lower it an actual game “you must roll back prior to the point before where you increased it”

In response to low FPS.

Shoot a video with your FPS counter in an unmodded new game.
Use this as your benchmark.

Check known problem spots.

You can now have a reference for how mods and your in game actions affect FPS.
And establish a delta for cause and effect.

Read what @damanding says on checking in fo4edit for objects in brackets indicating that a mod is breaking precombines

Oh man. We should not be doing any of this to run 2x2080ti in sli on a 1080 monitor at 60 MHz.

Maybe 60 MHz on a 4K. But, this is all kinds of not good to throw these kind of cards at FO4 in 1080 at 60hz.

If one 2080ti card here is struggling it isn’t the card that’s the problem it is the game engine throttling your performance due to issues like broken precombines.

I want to be clear. No combination of powerful cards in any configuration and settings, sli or not is going to overcome the the limitations of the game engine itself. Nothing.

In a game engine optimized environment all this power may help, as in it does not hurt. But 1 x 2080ti is way beyond what is needed for FO4 at 1080, 60 MHz .
