Q's About Farms, Planner's Desk and Build Limit

I have a few questions about certain aspects of the mod that I can't figure out or find in the forums right now that I am hoping can get answered. I am currently using v. 1.0.2.

Firstly, I am having issues with some of the farms in my game. I built a silt bean farm in Sunshine Tidings a while back but every time I go back to check on it it isn't producing any silt beans. I've tried refreshing the plot to no avail. It's been several in-game weeks since I built it and nothing has come out of it. I haven't been paying attention to the other farms in other settlements, but I have noticed that Sanctuary's workshop has plenty of razorgrain and mutfruit which I assume are from the farms there. Is this a known issue or is there a fix?
Secondly, can anyone explain what the compact city planner's desk is and how to use it? I can make it at a regular desk but I have no idea what to do from there. Nothing happens if I click on it and dropping it makes it completely disappear. The in-game tutorial on the city planner's desk gets cut off and I can't do anything to continue down so I have no idea if it has the answers either.
Lastly, I just finished the quest New Plots on the Block at Sanctuary but had several major issues along the way (I do have the city plan built there). I already reached the build limit in Sanctuary but scrapping/storing things doesn't lower the limit. The only way I could build anything was by picking what I want to build, scrap something while that plot was still selected, and then I can place it. But if I back out of the plot selection menu I have to go and scrap something again, else the game says that nothing else can be built. But as soon as I place a plot, it takes almost a minute for the game to register that I built it, and then almost another minute for Jake to start building it, which he does without any animations. Is this a known issue, and is there a way to reduce the settlement size so I can build more things?

Regarding the build limit thing, with Workshop Framework you can 'use' the workshop object itself (that red thing) to increase the limit at that settlement.
The "Compact Desk" is meant for you to craft at one settlement, then take to another and use to get a desk there too without needing materials.
Farms producing food for you to use seems a bit erratic, dont forget that each settler will consume one food item per day.

Ok the desk thing makes sense, thanks for clearing that up. For the farm thing, I take it that means this isn't a bug? Should I just build more silt bean farms and see if they start accumulating? And to increase the build limit, what do I do at the workshop? I don't think I've ever seen an option to do that. Thanks!

Yeah, you need to be running at a significant surplus to start seeing food items YOU can use.
Go over to the Workshop object and you should see a third 'activation' prompt for "Manage" next to the usual Activate and Transfer. Default key should be spacebar on PC I think.

I actually just found the Manage option for the workshop. You're right, it is spacebar, can't believe I didn't notice that before. Ok I'll try to start up more farms and see if that helps. Also updating to 1.0.3 so maybe that'll change things too. Thanks!

You need to have an excess of food production to have any placed into the workbench. Simply filling your needs bar is not enough to create excess.

Go to a new settlement and drop it on the ground.

Go to the workbench and click Manage then Configure Build Limits.

But I just want to make sure we’re talking about the same thing here. Are you saying you aren’t getting any in your workbench or that you can’t pick the beans from the plot?
Because I’m pretty sure that feature (picking up manually) isn’t part of SS2. It was the case in SS1 but that doubled the food production and I believe that’s part of the reason for the change (speculation).

And also as mentioned up there settlers eat food, if your food production is the same as your population, it could explain why you’re not accumulating food in your workbench.

So look your food production and your settler count. And let us know what you find out, it might be a problem with the plot too.
