That's one of the "conflicts" that the OaR/PV patch listed above is intended to resolve. PV will have you replace Maxon with Sarah as Elder of the BoS, while also getting rid of the "bad leadership" within the Institute. The result is that you're able to get the Institute on friendly terms with the Commonwealth, and you can "finish" the game's main storyline without having to nuke the Institute. By doing so, all of the main factions remain alive and as allies. The Thuggy storyline isn't always great, and in some places it's horrible, but the overall outcome is the best option that I've seen available so far.I played with Valkyrie and Outcasts and there weren't any issues, except I only had the MM and a few outliers as allies.
That's an example of an incompatibility. With those compatibility patches installed, you can play SS2 without conflicts as long as you complete the quests in order. For example, you need to finish all of Depravity before you start SS2 Ch2. And you'll want to finish all of the PV main quests (which include OaR main quests as well) before starting SS2 Ch3.
That's also an example of an incompatibility. Arguably it demonstrates that it breaks SS2 due to the Elder Maxon changes. The end results of using SS2 in combination with the Thuggy mods and those patches installed, means you can be allied with the Minutemen, Railroad, and Institute main factions, plus all of the smaller factions if you complete their requirements as well. You will NOT be able to use the BoS as an ally for Ch3, due to the changes OaR/PV makes. They are still your ally, you just can't have them take part in the final Ch3 quests.
That's also an example of an incompatibility. The only issue that I've encountered so far that the above-listed patches haven't fixed yet is Diamond City isn't properly being flagged as an available ally for Ch3, even after completing all of the requirements. This is due to a change made by Depravity to DC that skips one of Ch3's envoy requirements, but it's a very easy fix. If you aren't using Depravity, you won't have that issue.
I know what incompatible means. Allow me to expand upon the incompatible bits you don't seem to understand. The term "incompatible" typically means they simply won't work together. Hence the reason those patches are called "compatibility patches". I've been able to play SS2 fully when combined with the Thuggy mods, and as long as you complete the Thuggy stuff before going too far into SS2, everything works fine.
I am familiar with how SS2 works, and the quest setup. The reason I say you need to complete quests in the proper order is not much different than without the Thuggy mods. You need to progress far enough into the story to gain access to certain factions. And you need to complete the main story before heading into Ch3 (or at least before State of War) if you want to gain access to a main faction as an ally. SS2 is designed with various "breaks" in the story to allow you to take a break from SS2 and work on the vanilla storyline or DLC. While you can complete nearly all of Ch3 without ever meeting the main factions, it's not really intended that way. There's even a bunch of extra dialogue in place to account for your main story progress.
It is indeed a player choice to install whatever mods they want. It is not however reasonable to expect mod authors to support your choice of mod combination. If the mod you install, makes Elder Maxon unavailable, when needed by SS2, your mod is incompatible. The Danse Dilemma is also incompatible for the same reason. As for Elder Maxon and the BoS, if you are playing PV then yes you will lose them as an optional ally choice for Ch3. But you will be gaining the option to select any or all of the other main factions. Overall, you are gaining a lot more support that way. If you plan to use the BoS as your primary Ch3 faction, then you clearly have no reason to even be using OaR/PV mods. So that's not an "incompatibility", it's a player choice. And other than the BoS not being available as a Ch3 ally, the changes OaR/PV make to the BoS has zero effect on SS2.
Every time someone says "No offense" they immediately say something offensive. Let's not play that game.No offense, but plenty of us are using the Thuggy mods and SS2 together with the compatibility patches, and it's not "breaking SS2" or causing my PC to catch fire. Some of you guys keep trying to roast the Thuggy mods as being complete trash, like there's some kind of old-school rivalry. Blah-blah-blah, SS2 broke my Thuggy mods. Wah-wah-wah, Thuggy mods broke my SS2. The new compatibility patches fix nearly every issue, and while there are just a couple small things that still need to be added (namely one ally option), the overall outcome of using the mods together works fine.
