People who roleplay the main story, when do you fit SS2 in?

Best time to do all of your side questing so that your immersion remains intact is during the construction of the signal interceptor. A point is made that it is a very large and complex device, and your faction scientist is the one who is building it and getting it ready for you to use. it would be a perfect time for the SS2 story to take place during, and pretty much any other side quest stuff you want to take care of.

i might be late to this but the way i play the game i wouldn't really say roleplay but i play the whole missing son thing close to my chest only those that need to know will know so to anyone that doesn't really know me or my goals it just looks like I'm trying to help the commonwealth out of my own good and not as a means to get better info and supplies to all the areas of the common wealth to help me with my search as for the quests i wait till there more than one objective at the location or more then one person has talked about said location so it looks like the source has be come more credible case in point at the end of "When freedom calls" mama murphy talks about a place called "Dimond city" i take that as the ranting of an old lady talking about the ruined down town Boston and put it aside so i do jakes quest till he wants me to meet him in down town Boston i put that aside and start Preston first minuteman quest which shows me a settlement that needs help i do what they ask of me which makes me run into trashcan Carla who also brings up "diamond city" and i just travle to jake do his quest and he also brings it up so at that point it has to be a real place since 3 different people knw of it and i go to it

Yeah, I like doing this too. I'll put down the platform and the terminal and then a bunch of hammering, etc. animation markers around it so Desdemona (I'm usually with the RR for this) and other settlers are busy constructing it whenever I'm back at the settlement. You can also increase the resource costs of the signal interceptor pieces with FO4Edit so it actually takes time to gather everything you need. One thing I don't know how to do, but which could be interesting, would be to make the signal interceptor pieces use virtual resources, and then really increase the costs so you'll have to get your machine part and rare material industrial plots going before you can complete it.

I think you'd have to make a plot with those objects on it to pull that off, and that raises the issue of not being able to assign the Railroad or Brotherhood path 'technicians' to plots... neat idea, though.
