Inquiry on our boy Jake (romance spoilers beware)

lol Marcy Long?

Don't drag poor Marcy into this! She shared her sweet roll recipe with me.

EDIT: on another note. Is it just me or is Jake becoming a lot like another Preston Garvey

"Hey Slick, we got problems...here, let me mark it on your map"

Yeah, that's one of the issues I had with the HQ upgrade when it came to the characters. Jake felt like he lost almost all character during the quest, it felt like I was just interacting with a flat stone wall constantly and we were just his errand dog. The same went for the other characters, they felt like they lost all personality and that's saying something, because it was worse then when you send a companion to your settlement.

You mean his acting self centered, whining and falling apart at the first sign of trouble?

I had to tell the guy to man up at one point during a quest. I dunno...I guess that's a "type" of character.

Yeah, Jake's caught Garveitus.

OMFG! WTAF! This offends on so many levels...I am seriously considering purging all of SS just because of this BS! @kinggath F this S! Option or not I disapprove!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This SH!T pervades every aspect of daily life now and I refuse it invading my GAME!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty sure smitty was joking with his specifics about the romance - or the writer had been joking and was then quoted with those jokes.

As far as this being a building mod, it can still be that for someone - for example, you can bypass the entire storyline and just unlock the settlement mechanics.

One of the goals of SS2 was to create a deep storyline that gave you a reason to care for settlements and rebuild the world. In the process of creating that storyline, people are caring for the characters involved as well. Many folks like the romance mechanic, and given the depth of Jake's character - he's a good candidate for it.

We are going to do it very subtly, the same way the vanilla companion romance options are done. You won't see any loverslab content produced by our team.

Well, I suppose if the mod is going that far off the rails with such "Story line" then this will have to be my remedy. Cheers!
Again, I have to thank the writer for ruining a mod that I really enjoyed.
I'm very sorry that my adding the option to start a romance with Jake has ruined the mod for you, but I thank you for playing up until that point. We do what we do for our players, so I'm sad to hear that I've let someone down. I'd hope you keep on playing, but if not I understand.
You’ve nothing to apologize for! If optional romances are so detrimental to this person’s enjoyment of video games that sounds like an issue they need to work on. As it is, I wonder how they managed to complete fallout 4 in the first place when there are not just one but gasp SEVERAL companions the player character is capable of romancing . Like did they throw a hissy fit when you could flirt with Trashcan Carla?

It's a genuine fear. I got to flirt twice and both were checks that were harder then the last, I wasn't sure if it was working or not because Jake already actively compliments the player and calls them darlin'. He's very hard to read in a romantic sense, because it could just be him being nice lmao.
He IS just being nice, in a semi gay-ish way. I play a tough, straight, but handsome male and I think he's just being a sweet ol' southern boy. :)

Which is what I said, that's why I had to ask about how the flirt options worked with him. Because they did them well instead of having him act like MacCready, who literally abandons his son for you.

Also I play a chick as a chick, idk why that matters exactly but eh.

There are mods out there that let let you get a jumpstart on that romance... just sayin. On PC anyway...

I thought I had failed them because he calls me slick not darlin' but of course female players are darlin', males are slick.

All I'll say is, you'll have a hand in how things turn out for Jake...
Got it. You have to murder his ex to make him love you!

All I can say is "What the actual f*ck?" You don't HAVE to press flirt. There are 3 other options.
