Not a bug Gunner Outbreak Concerns

From what I saw in the trailer, it seems like the Gunners are just going to up and takeover my settlements, without even an option to fend them off.

Is that the case? I want to continue this mod but I don't want to lose my hard work on my settlements.

I kinda want It to be Kellogg he is supposed to be a bad dude who has done a lot of stuff before we met him but that’s to easy.
I would love for Keythe Farley to return as Kellogg in SS2. From what it sounds like in the teaser for companion ivy 6.0, he did at least return to the character so here's hoping.

Just throwing this out there, but does anyone else think the secret employer of these gunners is someone we've already met in chapter 1?
I'm suspicious that someone has remote access/control of MALA. Has anyone else seen that while MALA doesn't act hostile she shows up as hostile on VATS? Or do I have a glitch?

I’m not sure that matters as far as vats if they are neutral to you or enemy they show red only friendly show green is my understanding. If you target the people in the cult from hub of the problem at the amphitheater where you meet jake they show as red as well but won’t attack you , unless you choose to become hostile with them.

but that is a good theory like maybe the guy who talks through the robot for one of the settler quests ( he was a ghoul if I remember correct ) could be doing something behind the scenes.

If you mean this teaser, I think those are just re-used Kellogg lines from the game. I don't think the mod author has hired Keythe Farley for their mod. Payment aside, aren't VAs contractually prohibited from voicing characters in mods?

They may be reused lines. I wasn't able to find them in any of the Kellogg walkthrough videos though after searching several. The SAG went on strike (or threatened to) against video game publishers in 2017 because of voice actor contracts, but I honestly don't know if anything changed. Just hoping.

I'm not sure if it's true that voice actors aren't allowed to voice their characters in mods. Didn't Erik Todd Dellums (Three Dog) do a cameo in a Fallout 3 mod as Three Dog?

Also isn't one of the Patreon goals enough to be able to hire voice actors from the game to reprise their roles? Why do that if it's not allowed?

They're definitely re-used lines. Found them in literally the first video I looked up:

Bethesda makes them sign a contract that prevents them from using any Bethesda owned content including voice over work for anything not done by Bethesda. Basically they can not do anything involving their character in the game with anybody besides Bethesda. That is what was said on an interview i watched before.

If you stand by the chain link fence, you can overhear their conversation. I really like the dialog when you play as a female.
When big dumb asks "how do you know this ain't the guy we're lookin for" and the other guy says "because, she's a WOMAN!" :rofl
I always stop a distance away in sneak mode to hear the npcs' dialogue. Some of the vanilla raider stories are hilarious. I am glad SS2 gives the npcs their own dialogue we can listen in on.

One "good" thing in that regard is that a LOT of dialog for specific characters is only used once in a very specific set of choices, so repurposing and reusing it to seem "fresh" is easy. Even the vanilla companions have this issue. And the Player Character, whooboy...
And for non-unique characters, well... what percentage of people in Boston have Garrus's voice? Reusing lines there is even easier.

Think they fired him from FO4 for this reason... or sharing info on his involvement in the new game, something like that.

I've only started noticing the reused lines in mods after "Nora companion" mod. Sometimes it was painfully obvious but mostly subtle and clever. And I still have no idea where the "Don't need to shower" player line comes from.

Oh lol. Well, that's one mystery figured out, thanks.
Also the "you need help" to Jake, I thought that was hilarious. Or "I'm not telling you that" to gunners... Maybe it's better to not know where everything came from.
I never went back to the bathroom.
That's in character, apparently SS didn't need to shower either.

So here's what you do. Backup your saves. Install the chapter 2. Play it for a bit. If you don't like how it turns out, delete those saves, bring in your back ups and just continue to play it with only the chapter 1 mod. There's nothing to stop you from completing the game without chapter 2. I've already settled every place in the Commonwealth, my check points are up and running, I've taken over Nuka-World and now I'm setting my sights on Far Harbour. I'll probably have that done before chapter releases. So really, I don't need ch. 2 to finish this play through. But it will keep this play through going a lot longer!

The actual story with that Three Dog thing is a little more complex than that; it's impossible to find concrete info since Bethesda isn't saying, but from what I can tell he actually breached a specific term of a contract with Beth themselves, by publicly dropping info about the not-yet-released-at-the-time Fallout 4 and implying that he'd be back to voice someone again.

So this year is closing in fast hopefully won’t be much longer till we find out about all the new stuff, assuming they don’t get delayed I know they are pushing it to get done this year but it’s a lot of work from the sounds of it.
