You should have access to the Minutemen alliance regardless of the ending

So the way the alliances with the main factions work right now is that you have to finish the game with one of the factions to have the alliance with them.
Which in case of the Minutemen leads to a funny situation: you are the General, maybe you even chose a name for your faction "Minutemen", but unless you choose the Minutemen ending, you can't have the alliance with them.
So instead, after you complete Old Guns, you should have access to the Minutemen alliance and units regardless of the ending you chose.

I'm using Subversion so it's gonna be interesting to see who can show up to assist me, but yeah Minutemen should be there regardless

Are you far into Chapter 3 at all yet? I very much dislike not having Subversion in a load order, so would love to know how it plays with Ch 3

I just finished Me and This Army. I could choose the Institute as a faction name if I wanted and when waking up from shooting down the vertibird, the Institute, Railroad and Minutemen are all mentioned so it seems I can get all 3 of them on board. Not sure about the BoS yet

The name does nothing I believe. There is a later quest Under One Banner where you make alliances. Turns out if you did the Minutemen ending and are friendly with RR and BOS all three show up, which wasn't intended.

I mentioned the name as the Institute wasn't available to me on an earlier playthrough until I actually finished the game.

Agree, it's not even possible to piss the minutemen off (on second thought, if you're really into Nuka-world or Depravity...) since you are the minutemen yourself. Someone can argue that Preston is the minutemen, they want none of his BS and won't even save him in Concord. But a minutemen alliance is something you can't get locked out of. At least in theory. Especially with gunners being our main enemy.

I think it's already kind of like that. The quest you need to complete for their alliance is:
defend the castle
Which you can do regardless of faction ending if you play your cards right
