This is a bit rambly. I want to edit it so its more useful later and add more stuff. If you have suggestions let me know

Every character has a race. It lets them do things like use a jetpack, terminals, and gear. If yooou modify that record you can really mess things up. But there is a fix. On CAN's page there is a Rehumanizer. Follow directions and it will make you a human again cleaning off the changed race effects. Removing these mods is even less supported than usual. It can and will break your game over its knee if you try - if your super careful (and make a backup) you can try adding it to an existing game. If you use the Player mod or a Unique Player Body mod any changes should be just to your character making it more survivable. In theory the Race Changer mod (here) is also a help.
For example a "Race" is Tifa Lockheart from FF7 (Add in the punches and kicks mod for fun). It transforms you into her.
Your starting point is pretty much always going to be Crimes Against Nature- Here and RaceCustomizer- Here.
If all your looking for is a My Little Pony avatar it (and some hair packs) are all you need. It will add a file called "Player*" That enables the mod changes to your character. Like if you wanted to be a tiger it would be PlayerTiger. Only use one of these at a time. Also only equip one race changing mod for an NPC the best you can - cause it can get confused.
Chrysalis' Armor (Here) makes you the queen of the changlings able to eat love and summon drones. Its a lot of fun (Also adds in her armor and an axe).
But it can do so, so, much more.
The Proto-Argonian race from Elder Scrolls is a nice start. Light requirements (It can run without looksmenu) and very nice artwork.

But what if you want more? Oh they exist. Furry Fallout (Here) on Loverslab contains 12 or so different races. Be ready for some weirdness though. The mod is older and has quirks. Like when modifying the eyecolor of a tiger the face vanishes. :P

I suggest these mods for a few reasons. You can set it to layer armor. Make armor invisible, have 5 legendary effects on an item, and it generally works without any issue
If the Skeleton is working but the skin isnt / You put normal furry on a Pony skeleton you get BIG HEAD!
Log out and swap the skeletons around if you want 'normal' size or add in the pony skins

This gave me something to focus on besides pain - it was a bunch of fun. I dont know if I got everything - Im pretty sure I missed somethings. I started at the top of my Mod archive and just went down the list adding in things I saw. Let me know what I missed or how I could write this better :D
