Wasteland Venturers 2

As of patch 2.1.8 all beds by default count as homes, so they should all count towards the commercial requirements.

I tested that they all counted towards the settlement number of beds, but took a leap of faith on the commercial requirement.

EDIT: i do think that the beds counting towards the commercial etc reqs was the point of making beds default to count as homes, they already counted as beds before (so I'm changing it from "fate" to "faith" ...)

The game may recognize the extra beds, but my &%*$# settlers keep complaining about the &%*$# "bed situation"
Hm - I've only had the settlers complain about missing beds while the plots are upgrading or during a refresh (even if there actually are enough beds for all the building stages as well). If you wait a bit so you are sure that everything has settled, do they still complain?

I’m not so sure about anything those settlers say. They constantly complain about food and water if they get it from caravans.

I'll watch for that. Thanks.

Do you have the icebreaker mod? they complain about food and beds

I didn't. I just installed it to try to give them more to talk about.

I laughed because she was sitting on the steps of a Level 2, 3-Bed Townhouse while passive-aggresively mentioning that a lot of folks are complaining about the bed situation.

Ungrateful settlers *do* make the game more interactive.

She probably got exhausted walking all those stairs and hoped her pleas would make you build her a sleeping bag on the stairs so she wouldn't have to get back down again ;)

So... I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting and the 3 and 5 bed homes, which are awesome, don’t seem to count as far as the HUD and/or if you get the needs report from the holotape. Seems to clearly change how hard it is to keep people happy despite the regular display showing a green number of beds. If I just chuck down a bed then the number will go up.

I can’t completely confirm this, but it also seems that this matters for getting a city to progress toward upgrade.

I thought something like that might be the case, but I can’t assign the individual beds and if I assign other settlers to the plot they seem to just take over.

I'm not sure why this happens - for both me and Myrmarachne the beds count in the workshop menu and the settlers assign to the beds (and sleep in them). And I've seen screenshots where players with 5-bed homes have full HUD meters. I wonder if it's a combination of how many settlers you have and what other objects in the settlement. I haven't tried all the different assignment holotape options, so that might make a difference.

I think there's a keyword I could add to the beds so they could be assigned individually (it's a setting I've seen for the city plan beds, but so far I haven't seen any difference with it on - you don't get the waving pip-boy you get when placing your own bed.

I'll play around with the houses and ask Kinggath about what difference there could be with a city plan spawned and a plot spawned extra bed (there shouldn't be any).

I know that the extra beds don't yield taxes, which is why I haven't added any extra food or water penalties (maybe I should?). Not sure if that would affect the HUD.

I notice there was info about turning off auto close doors if you want to assign settlers yourself but I’m not sure how that is meant to work. I’m on Xbox so have it off. Maybe that’s the duh moment here. Does that need to be on long enough for autoassigning to work or something?

No, the auto close door was just a tip since I found it really frustrating trying to assign the settler to a bed two stairs up in workshop mode when the door closed in my face ;)

Hm, it's odd. I'll keep poking.

They do still count as beds for you in the workshop stats on top of the screen, right?

Yes. That works just fine. By the way, who knows if this is interesting information but what the hell, same sort of thing with the Creation Club bunk beds. Count as two beds for workshop stats, but they are only one bed for HUD or percentages on holotape report.

Aha! Interesting with the Creation Club beds. OK, I'll see if there's anything I can do to get them to count reliably in the HUD. As beds now all count as homes, I'm pretty sure that SimS is meant to count them in the HUD house meter too. Thanks for experimenting!

Does WV on Xbox include intermediate construction changes? If so, is there any prospect of getting an WV 1 & 2 Lite with those removed, bringing it into concordance with SS Lite. I'd love to claw back a few more megabytes if possible. Moreover, while the construction stages look nice, they're ultimately just temporary content, i.e. once a plot has upgraded (which usually happens while I'm gone, in my case) they become unused assets that are taking up valuable mod space.

I understand that maintaining multiple mods on Bethnet is pain in the posterior, especially multiple versions of the same mod, and I would never begrudge you deciding against doing a Lite version, but please consider it.

Thanks.

Too painful for our posteriors, unfortunately! While we absolutely do understand the plight of Xbox players, that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. Our spare time is limited so we want to use it for fun things (such as creating new content) rather than deadly boring stuff (such as administrating and maintaining mods). Thank you for being so understanding! :cray
