I have been using Vault 88 for a week or so with no issues until yesterday. Now when I leave the Vault and fast travel back, I see this image. The screen freezes and I have to do a hard reset. When I reload the save no issues unless I leave and come back. I only use the main entrance and when I try to walk back in and not fast travel, I get a black screen freeze. The only odd thing that changed just before this was I was asked to increase my build limit but I was not at the max yet. Most of the time I either use SS ROTC completely in a settlement or I don't at all. Vault 88 was the exception. I wanted to choose the plot plans myself. I don't have a ton built up..3 Industrial 3 commercial 2 martial 9? residential. Again, I was not over the limit and did not need to increase the build size. No mods were added prior either. I dislike having to come here and ask for help but I really have searched for someone who has had this same issue--Thought it was the hall of mirrors but mine looks way worse.

    My specs:
    I7 9700K
    Gigabyte z390 Aorus Xtreme
    Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070
    Ram Gskill 32gb 3200

    Things I have tried :
    Updated the latest patch
    Updated my graphics card driver
    Lowered my graphic settings
    Refreshed the plots
Turned off all the plot extra's
    Reset the build limit

Interesting...So I did that and I do not freeze. I can move around but its all black except a few gun turrets and various light bulbs. When I "un TCL" it freezes. Another note..I did get a note about the build limit again and it asked if I wanted to go over --I declined, TCL, and froze

I should mention that I used a save that had already reset the build limit back to the min. Also I used fast travel.

I have seen that before, its a bug where for some reason stuff that you have scrapped appears in a random location all bunched up and causes the game to lag because physics are colliding with each other and the game is just going nuts, thats why you freeze and that's why tcl fixes it because it toggles collision off, there is no fix for this you're going to have to scrap everything in there by hand or selecting in console and disabling

Also post a screenshot or a video when you;re moving around the area so I can see more specifically

What happens when you use the "scrapall" or "scrapeverything" command inside Vault88, I forgot which one it is, but try that and see what happens and tell me if it crashes your game

You can try the holotape too, try nuke the settlement, but im not sure if those objects are considered to be linked to the settlement so idk if that works, alternatively go back to a save where its working and nuke it and see it still happens,

Maybe if you want your settlement so bad its still salvageable , transfer it to a blueprint using Transfer Settlements and then nuke it, if it doesnt happen anymore and you want it back try re importing it from the blueprint. good luck

OK, tried the scrap all command console. No crash until I tried to fast travel out of there. I haven't used the transfer settlements mod yet so I have to catch up on that one. I didn't build those lights and have a couple of turrets but more missile than MG but those lights may be in the plot plans. Would like to keep this settlement since I put in a few days building it up. If this doesn't work, I will have to leave it and never come back there. Which sucks because I have been using it as my main and learning how SS works. Thanks for keeping tabs on this thread nzane.

Were you able to see the vault with scrapall though? or were the objects still causing the weird glitch all piled up in the same spot?

Scrapall command is not a solution sadly, it was just to see if it was the bug I mentioned or not, if you were able to see the vault normally using scrap all, you should try reverting to a save where the vault is working, transfer your settlement, nuke the vault with the holotape option doesn't matter if the bug is still not there, then wait inside an interior for 3 + days for a cell reset and try to access the vault again, if its working, re import your blueprint using Transfer Settlements.

Also, if you are using Scrap Everything , get rid of it because I think its the one causing the issue, my theory is, all those objects that are not meant to be scrapable / objects that were built while using the increase limit option end up in weird places of the game, last time I got this, was below Greentech Genetics building, I had a bunch of Sim Settlements plots + constructible objects I've previosuly scrapped laying down there all piled up, I also had sanctuary roads and houses because a mod removed them, just like you was also causing my game to freeze as soon as I enter the grid with the objects piled up, tcl works because it disables physics thats why you get no crash, sadly I found no solution to this "bug" but manually typing disable on each object, but you have it easier, since its on a settlement, you can try Nuking it and see if it works ! :)

Went to an earlier save where I was already in the vault with no issues yet and used the scrap all. No graphic issues and all the settlers where still there--it was just the cave and normal. . Nope I have never used the scrap everything mod..I have seen all the warnings. :kinggath:. Under the building? What made you think to look under there? Is it possible everyone has assets piled up too? Well I just downloaded the transfer settlements mod and stopping off to pick up a :explode: Let's see what happens.

Alright, try not tu use scrapall command though, it can scrap quest stuff and other important crap xD,

There was nothing that should be lagging my game on the surface, so I just clipped down, I saw some weird vortex of crap, random structures,houses..piled up, , its what you're getting , but since you're getting it inside an interior, its impossible to see whats going on, I had the rest of the worldspace to see, it's hard to explain and I would show you because I made a thread here, but I searched for it and I think it got deleted

Good luck with Vault 88 , hope it gets fixed , you can try disabling everything if it comes back with the console, but it will take time

Thought I would go back to an earlier save and test some more. The save I chose was before I got a size limit pop up message in the vault originally .The odd thing is, I was not at the max. Look at this picture [IMG] I have plenty of room and I'm not sure why it even came up. Last time I got this message i thought it was an error and allowed SS to go over the limit. I leave, come back and get that frozen screen of broken glass I originally posted. This time I declined to go over the limit, left, fast traveled back and had no issues with my graphics. I think my issue is related to a size limit bug/error
