I have killed all of the gunners but Jake is walking down the railroad tracks away from Aidan and my player. Can not complete quest.

Its doing that for multiple people (myself included), already at least one other thread about it, I logged it in the bug log about 8 hours ago. Might have to use the moveto player console command to get Jake close enough to Aiden to trigger the second dialog scene.

@yaugieLC this is a strange one. IIRC around v1.0.3 I tried to break this quest by kiting all the enemies in the area. I ended up with a mess of gunners, raiders, mirelurcks and bloodbugs playing king of the hill. After the mayhem was over, I found Jake and Aiden standing on the hill next to the shack under the overpass. I did the same thing recently on v1.0.7. This time they were standing where Aiden was first encountered. In the couple of dozen of times I have ended this battle over the versions, Jake has never did the walking back to Concord thing.

I do remember back in the v1.0.0 betas, during the "search for gunners," (when you select the option to search with Jake and he wouldn't follow you) after finding a 'dud' location, Jake would magically appear say his dialog and start walking back to Concord. This was fixed (somewhere) in v1.0.1 to v1.0.3. Maybe what ever fixed this is relevant to the OPs issue. I can't help much more, I don't have a good understanding of packages.

I've 100% seen it happen myself - only reason my current save progressed past there was that by sheer coincidence, Jake walking home happened to mean he walked BEHIND me while I was moving in to console-command Aiden back into place - which meant they were close enough together to trigger the scene anyway.
Just curious, how far from the spot where the dialog ends and the fight sequence starts do YOU end up when the fighting's over? The redone leveled lists mod I run means Gunners have a good 1/3 chance of having grenades, so hiding in cover in one place is a Bad Time.

:confused:smoke rolling
I think the first few times I ended up somewhere on the tracks. I later figured out that if (from the initial scene spot) you run through the destroyed 'settlement,' you can funnel the gunners in a location where their crappy AI causes them to get stuck. From there I end up popping a couple of rounds into Zimonja to argro the raiders and circle around behind the gunners. Its pure chaos from there. I think one time, I ended up withing the borders of Zimonja. One time, I was near the house (random encounter spot) below Tenpines. One time, I was on top of the hill south of the initial 'Aiden' scene. One time near that 'pond' where 2 mirelurks spawn. One time I was on the hillside (W of the 'meet Aiden' spot) where the bloodbugs spawn. I think the majority of the time I end up near the 'house' under the overpass towards Zimonja.

Now you have me wondering if this is an issue with getting too far away from the 'battle' location... :scratchhead I guess I could load up a save and try sniping the last gunner from Tenpines.

I managed to get the quest to complete by standing a few feet behind the npc and teleporting Jake to my location. Jake will start to walk then engage Jake in conversation while he is walking past the npc and they will start talking and the quest will complete.
