Question To LOOT or not to LOOT?

LOOT isn't a mod organiser it stands for Load Order Optimization Tool. It organises your load order based on metadata about the mods you have downloaded and installed into your game.

Does Loot see the mods downloaded then make a list that's compatible and you arrange the mods in the order it created or does Loot do the rearranging for you? So far, I'm doing the rearranging.

Not exactly.... Loot looks at the mods you have installed and then bases the load order on data from a known database. That database is updated on an ongoing basis from the LOOT website. It will also tell you if your F4SE version and mods dependent on it are compatible with the current game version. The load order is performed automatically when prompted. It's not perfect, but it's the easiest for most players. That being said, I do not believe it works with consoles like Xbox or PS.

if you're on xbox, then you can't use loot or a mod manager, and have to rely on the in-game method of sorting out your mods which is accessible from the main game menu if i recall.
