Bug The happiness bug is back.

I have 2 settlements: sanctuary hills, and tenpines bluff. According to my happiness report, the happiness for tommorow should be 90, but in SH's case it just sits at 33% forever, and in tenpines's case, at 50%.

I'm up to date on my WF, so that's not the issue.

Hi Rylasasin, I was having problems too. what worked for me was going to a desk and manually re-running the shelter fix. I was already on auto but the homes in my settlement had all fallen to one. Everything else was near max.

I ran the manual shelter fix “waited” ran it again and it took “it changed to the correct amount” so then the shelter was fixed. Slept and then everything caught up and now the happiness looks right. I had to do this in two settlements so far.

Don’t know if this will help but thought it ok to post what I did.

Tonight I plan to test more why my auto shelter fix function isn’t running as it should?

I am running other mods that touch the workshop so don’t know yet what is playing with what or if it is something else or if it flips back afterward. Will look more at it tonight.

There is also a known tax problem that I don’t know yet if they are related,

“Uituit and KG were talking about it on the discord. From what I understand the taxes not working correctly is a known issue which is being worked on and hopefully will be fixed in 4.0.:moil

So great post. Hopefully, others will report what they are seeing so we can nail it all down for the more technical folks and KG to look at.

Yeah I have had a lot of issues with the shelter mechanic too this playthrough. Have had to do laps of all the settlements multiple times to rerun it, and often it needs to be run several times per settlement to get 10/10. Running the shelter fix will often make it even worse for some reason...

well, I tried running the shelter fix, tried turning off the shelter mechanic, nothing seems to be working. The happiness in all of my settlements just isn't changing at all. Not going up, not going down.

It's gotten to the point to where I have to manually set my happiness using getav 127238 and setav 129157

yeah, so I am not imagining it. I had to run several times also.

Add in the tax issue and all the possible settings between players and games I am not surprised it could also have negative results.

it has been reported but still encourage folks to report with as many specifics as they can. Screenshots of settings and levels might be helpful.

Thank you Rhn!

I have the same bug. Settlement happiness is not changing for me at all despite happiness report saying something different. I tried the shelter fix but it didn't work.

So I made a new game, this time without UF4OP, and, though it seems to be too early to tell, that seems to have fixed it.

I'm not surprised, I've had troubles with UF4OP in the past. UF4OP has this bad habit of messing around with things that really should not be messed around with, settlement things in particular. You think they'd have learned their lesson with the beacon fiasco, but apparently not. I had ditched it entirely in my last playthrough, and thought to try it again in this one. Seems that was a mistake however.

UF4OP is the cause? Have you tried their latest update on the 5th? They might have fixed that bug now.

Yes, I did. It did nothing.

Unfortunately, it seems that simply uninstalling UF4OP wasn't enough, as the happiness bug persisted. It's only when I completely started a new game that the happiness came back.
Luckily for me, I had already restarted the game prior to accommodate Yag's Red Rocket Redux stuff, so I hadn't gotten far anyway.

Then again I only did a light test in the post-UF4OP one. But happiness did in fact change.

Update: Turns out it's not UF4OP after all. in my test game now not only does happiness not work, the HUD doesn't work either. Not to mention there's more crashes.

That sucks. I'm trying to fix this happiness bug too :|
I hope you find the issue and share it with all of us.

Unfortunately I've given up on trying to find the cause. I have neither the ability nor comprehension to dive into the code looking for the cause.

It might be BS Defense. BS Defense modifies the vanilla global variables, and if you use Workshop Plus and Workshop Framework which uses a different set of workshop globals, then it causes conflict.

Are there any globals and/or AVIFs I should check in my workshops? Asking one of the higher ups that's actually familiar with the code.

Have you found anything on how to fix this mod? Any mod causing this bug in particular? I'm experiencing it again in a new save with SS Conquerors, even though I cleaned out my mod-list.

Having this issue as well, current worst offender is Sanctuary, at 20 happiness and not moving. Happiness report showing maxed out on all factors, robots -0, adjustments: 0, bonus/penalty: 2, predicted happiness: 97. Sleep to change the day, no change in happiness, remains at 20.

Have noticed a couple of times that sometimes beds will fall to 1/10. Exit report, open workshop, close workshop, run report again, and beds jump back to 10/10. Even so, I can stay in settlement scrapping/building for two in-game days and happiness will not move off 20.

Just curious, but to Axonum and Dauntless86, have you also used Workshop+ Layers? For me, it seemed to stop updating happiness after I started using layers to duplicate my guard towers. not sure if there's some sort of connection or if it's just a coincidence.

Nope, haven't touched layers. My Tenpines (only other populated settlement I have atm) is also stuck, but at 35. I haven't installed Conquest, as the Raider gameplay doesn't really appeal to me. I know there's framework in it to expand it to other factions, but was planning on waiting for add-on content for Conquest to emerge in the coming months.

One thing I've been wondering, I don't actually have any SS plots in my settlements right now. There's plenty of beds, food, jobs, water, shelter for everyone, but I wonder if the lack of plots is having an impact. I kind of wanted to design Sanctuary (and a few others) by hand and use SS for bulk of the other settlements. Suppose I can try this at Tenpines when I get home.

If I'm not planning on taking advantage of the pre-built settlements or the vassal/outpost (because raiders) function of Conquest, is there any other reason to install it yet?
