Testing city plan

I'm so sorry for all the questions. I feel like I should already know.
I'm testing a city plan and I'm using the city planner to help me.
In the planner when I tell it to advance everything to level 1 is that the same as when the city advances up a level on its own?
In other words, will the city still advance to level 1 later?
It takes a long time if you let it happen on its own.

Edit: console command:
cqf SS2_CityPlanManager TestCityUpgrade
upgrades the city.

No, actually the city plan saves at what level each plot should be and when you upgrade your city plan to that level then all the plots will upgrade to that level (I am not 100% sure if they will get deleted or changed if you changed something.).

Oh, I think I got it. If I upgrade the plots it doesn't upgrade the city plan. But, if I upgrade the city plan it upgrades the plots. Is that it?

Basically a city plan is all the stuff that you build on that level and whatever level you have your plots at when you save the city plan, let's say that I make a city plan with 2 levels:

Level 0:
I build a martial plot foundation, 2 residences and 1 industrial plot, build some walls and objects then save that city plan like that.

Level 1:
I upgrade all the plots to level 3 and add some extra plots, build some more random stuff then save that city plan like that.

I use the tool to make a 2 level city plan (don't know if it's possible).

Then I start a game and use my newly created city plan, when I use the city plan all the stuff in level 0 will be build, then when my city plan upgrades to level 1 it will automatically increase the plots to level 3 if applicable (meaning they are the plots that I placed on the level 1) and add the rest of stuff that I put there.

Also each city plan level could be a totally different layout but if you do this then the system will have to tear down anything that you removed and add the new stuff, which can be taxing.

I would recommend that you watch this video by Kinggath

Hey, found this in the wiki:

If the City Plan online tool detects two plots occupying the exact same coordinates and rotation, it assumes they are the same plot and so any changes to the plot that exists at that location will be repeated during the upgrade.

For example, let's say you have a 2x2 Agricultural plot at level 1 with the Corn Mud Farm building plan in your Level 0 save. Now in your Level 1 save, you decide to change to the Razorgrain Mud Farm building plan and switch it to level 2. So long as you didn't move that plot between levels, the player will experience this exact same change and their 2x2 Agicultural Plot will switch to the Razorgrain Mudfarm plan and go to level 2 when the City upgrades!

Then let's say in your Level 2 save, you use the Change Plot Type option from the Customize Plot section on the ASAM Sensor menu to switch it to a Commercial Plot, choose a new building plan/skin combination and set it's level and the player will see this exact change.

All of these things work based on location/rotation data. So just be certain not to move or rotate plots if you want them to be treated as the same plot.

Well... yes you can change building plan...
BUT I am finding that whenever I do that, and test my city plan - that the new building plan will reset to level 0 no matter what level I had it set to in my building level export.
(one example is I had tried to change a L2 basic water plot to a L3 advanced water plot, but it kept coming up at level 0, while all the other plots around it were upgraded to L3)

Thanks Karvoc, It wasn't working, I'll have to try again and see if it works now.
