Old Post Some Questions about SS and ROTC

I've just started using SS and I have some questions I couldn't find the answers for in the wiki.

1. Do the city plans include homes or buildings just for the player to use? I like having a base of operations where I can store my gear/power armour and decorate it as I see fit.
2. If the answer to my first question is no, can I use the plots in some way to create a residental home just for myself? (Either as part of the city plan or kept seperate so it doesn't interfere with the mod and causes issues.)

Thanks.

1. The answer depends on the add-ons you have. Wasteland ventures has player plots, but I think they are player selected only through the ASAM sensor. I recommend just get WV2 AIO and ALL the other add-ons. They are all great.

2. Other than the specific player select "no" but SS does not prevent you from building your own space near where the city plan is built. The plots have levels that are predetermined so not really something the player can do what you are asking.

Hope this helps and have fun!

From my experience:
Just make a settler build up the plot you like and when you're satisfied, send them to another plot.
Keep moving settlers to other plots every time they try to move into "yours".
PS: Welcome to the community!

Thank you for the responses.
I currently have no add ons just the 3 in 1 Sim Settlements. I checked Wasteland Ventures 2 and it says it requires the DLCs which I don't own so that won't be an option sadly but I will try out the original Wasteland Ventures, thank you.

@Delta Wouldn't that cause issues with the scripts trying to use a plot that's designed for the NPCs to use?

I have another question, is it safe to move workbenches that are part of the city plan? I'm checking out the Santurary city plan and I'm not a fan of the location of most of the work benches. Will it be a problem if I move them to another location?

If you get our original Wasteland Venturers, the player home plot is called the Caretaker’s Tower. It is very frugal though, the settler assigned “takes care” of the plot and it has an extra bed for the player. At level 3 it has some containers that won’t respawn marked for the player.

Many of the city plans include a small space for the player, mostly just a bed, sometimes with all the workbenches close by.

You can absolutely move the crafting workbenches (never move the workshop workbench even if you have a mod that lets you, it causes havoc). Keep in mind that until level 3 of the city the settlers will add stuff so they may build over your placed benches.

Moving a settler out of a plot won’t mess with the scripts, but if a new settler moves in, as Delta says, the may take over “your” home and you have to reassign them manually again.

Otherwise, maybe this mod could give you a shack shell in a style that fits SS? Unfortunately you’d have to fill it yourself with clutter and storage.

@Delta1296 has a excellent point about using NPC beds. To complement that point.

Has a great diversity of plots by past and present authors, some have dlc requirements CC to unlock them so if you ever get the DLC? Still i think most of the plots work without the dlc.

There is a plot that has many beds in it for use by player and NPC by Jib’s. This is a very handy plot early game for player and NPC alike. I forget what it is called, something house?:moil

Thank you very much I will try the Caretaker's Tower, I'm not looking for anything fancy just somewhere I can organise my gear for safekeeping and give the impression I'm as much a part of the settlement as the NPCs. Though I do have a tendency to collect the Power Armours and arrange them in a display to show off.

Dammit, this reminds me that I *really* need to get that “barebones settlements” idea of mine going >_<

Op, if you’re heavily into PA hoarding you might try my PA Basement (see my sig).

Here's a novel idea.... build your own house from the ground up.I have done it multiple times since I've been playing. (ask a couple of the people that have been here awhile......:grin) Can be big or small. Since you are on PC, the choices are many. Mods with non vanilla locations are great for a DIY structure because there are usually no settlers around to clog up your doorways and beds. The main thing is to have fun! :happy
