So Many plots... (settlement restrictions)

So... with so many plots available... (i think 45 different plots)... how are we able to build all these unique plots when there is settlement restrictions? Yes, I know mods lower this restriction... so, do we have to have a mod that lowers it to enjoy Sims 2? and yes, I understand we wont build them all in one settlement,, just wondering if its normal to be restricted on every settlement? thank you

If you go up to the Workbench itself (the red thing, it's next to the weapons workbench in the house across the street from the Sole Survivor's house in Sanctuary, for example) there is a "Manage" option, you can increase the 'Build Limit' from there - this is a function of Workshop Framework.

That said, my own 'preferred' setup for manually building Sanctuary involves a good 20+ plots (it varies because I'm still trying to figure out how to 'endgame' build things), and that's still not even touching the build limit.

BTw.. what is everyones' preferred style of manual vs selecting a mayor.. or, in other words, how many do you prefer to manually build in a game?

I am at over 3000 posts made (and I only registered for the forums the week ss2 launched), thatd be one hell of an oncome source.

Personally I dont use the "City Plan" "auto build" mechanic at all, but that is just due to the designs on most Plans not matching my preferred playstyle overall.

I have slowed down a lot lately, and tbh i will probably go to lurker mode for the week Chapter 2 launches - answering the same half dozen questions over and over from people that didnt even look what the newest five threads were first will drive me insane, and I know there will be a flood of new people to the forums when that launches.

Not after the government grabs their share...

There already seems to be a large influx based on the Nexus SS2 posts (I read them everyday and try to help where I can) and the number of new patreon subs I see.

You have more patience than i do for answering the same questions over and over

In terms of physical space 1x1 plots might be something to consider, you could try Addon Packs. 1x1s will tend to have less stuff on them than the larger plot sizes so may also add less in terms of filling the build limit gauge. You can also use the alternate activation on the settlement workshop for options including raising the build limit. On PC at least, it's likely to be okay to use 2x the default build limit(this is the allowed amount in the City Plan Contest). On a good PC you might be okay to use more. In any case though I would avoid building up more than one of Sanctuary, Red Rocket & Abernathy Farm("Triangle of death"). I pick one of the three then do Tenpines/Starlight/Sunshine as next settlements.

It's generally expected to have multiple settlements which are linked with Caravan Services, although I can fit a fair bit by using 1x1s. On my addon I prioritize 1x1 plots(especially for key plot classes) & 3x3s generally for multi assignment.

Yaugie is my Vault dweller hero... he is a good lawful (to volunteer to educate), high intelligence (replies), high science (tech), high agility (thousands of posts takes skill), and still walks the wasteland looking for people who need help. I Tip my hat my friend.

I honestly find it funny to hear how other people see me. I do not think of myself as anything special, anyone could do what I do, just takes time.

45 plots? Only? Start downloading addons.

Is it normal to have restrictions? YES! Both the hardware and software are real and have limitations. Video games aren't magic. Yes you can go over the limit but you do so at your own risks. Those limitations have been put there to ensure the game run smooth. You go over... well you shold be able to guess. Not saying that it's the end of the world to go a bit over, but even the most powerful computer will have it's limits AND will have to LIVE WITH THE LIMITS OF THE BETHESDA ENGINE.

For instance, I have yet to hear that there is a computer powerful enough to not encounter issues with the triangle of death. The Abernathy, Sanctuary, Red Rocket trio of settlements is placed in a way where it can overwhelm the engine. There is a ton of documentation on the site about it, do a search if you need more info but my point is, it's fun to make big settlements but that doesn't mean you should just go over in all your settlements otherwise you will most likely end up with problems.

I have a really good computer 3090, 64ram & 5900x and am still very conservative in the triangle. I essentially treat the three locations in the triangle as two.

I normally do it by settler count as I put a lot of vanilla substitutions in:

18 - SAN
12 - AB
8 - RR

I never build them all up at once. I get one to LVL3 then see how things are going then start another location.

I could maybe go bigger but once the triangle starts doing downhill it goes quick and it really pulls down my enjoyment of that
play-through.

I do find that this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/51148
Is one that has really increased my enjoyment of Sanctuary.

You could get an AI from 1000 years in the future to re-write the game from the ground up. I place my bet on the Power of :todd: leaping across time and space compelling it to crash.

At this point I just leave Red Rocket alone. I use it to drop legendaries I might want to pick up later into the workbench and leave it unattended and then build up Sanctuary and Abernathy. Usually if I do it that way I don't have a problem. I typically need Abernathy to be a food hub too much.
