Sim Settlements 2 taking up too much time

I originally started using SS2 so I would not have to build each settlement myself. However, after using SS2 I find that I am constantly going between settlement because they all need something. I try to use the no involvement option but some of them will only let me put it on low involvement & it always seems there's not enough food, water, defense, beds or something else. I have self power option turned on & half the buildings do not have power.
If I do manage to get them happy with no demands, I have to constantly go defend one of the settlements, even though I had so much defense set up it should not have been a problem. I find I can not play the rest of the game because of always taking care of the settlements.
Why should I not just go back to doing each settlement myself? Maybe I am doing it all wrong, but settlements are taking up too much time.

There's a link to the Wiki in the top bar on the forums.
You could check out:

Lots of other information there if you're up to doing the reading. :)
Other than the Sttelements Expanded mod, none of my other mods appear on the list -- other than the mod that increases the settlement limit. Can't remember the name off of the top of my head. At 75 you tend to forget things.

It isn't about SS2 not being right for me. It has an intense learning curve. It is about fully understanding how everything works. It is about needing to know exactly what mods of the 127 mods that I have had installed in the game; for years; before adding SS2 and which mods are conflicting with SS2. You jumped to the conclusion. Now, if you could please point me to a web page that lists all of the conflicting mods that would be very helpful. Thank you so much for your feedback. It was much appreciated.
Here are some of my favorite mods that I have installed:
!. ) Better and Beautiful Settlers
2.) Homemaker
3.) Repair the Castle
4.) Repair Sanctuary Hills Bridge
5.) Longer Power Lines
6.) Modern Weapons.
6.) Clean Water
7.) CBBE Body Mod
8.) ZaZ-Extended_Skeleton
9.) VTAW Wardrobe v1
10.) Beautiful Female Enemies

and the list goes on.
It appears you might have missed some parts of my responses in your previous thread, where I linked one of the pages Cessori notes, and made a few other suggestions as well. My conclusion was based on your comment that "I am getting bored and want to stop playing Fallout 4 altogether?!?", never the goal of any game or mod, and if you feel that way it is normally time to move on. If you want to continue with SS2, please do! My next recommendation would be to post the full load order you are working with so the community can see what you are working with, and see if there are any other suggestions for removal or addition. Also, can you describe your process for building your settlements with SS2? It might be that you are missing something that we can help you identify. For example, if you have jumped straight to city plans, you do typically initially need to assign the settlers to the high priority plots manually. If you are building the individual plots yourself, and they are not assigning properly, you might have some settings that need to be adjusted.

mod that increases the settlement limit.
Mods like this are not needed. Its built into Workshop Framework. You should be able to go to the workbench and hit "space" for the Manage menu.

Note that Fallout 4 does not support removing mods during a playthrough. I would not recommend adding Workshop Framework in the middle of a playthrough. I would start a new game.

such as the "place anywhere mod" that doesn't work.

Re: Place Everywhere - just wondering if you're making the same dumb error as me when I started using it. I didn't realise I had to use the F8 key to toggle it on and off, F1 for object snapping and F2 for ground and surface snapping. I assumed it just didn't work for months while it was me just going full Homer Simpson...

Oh, and it only works inside settlements.

You were right after all! I completely uninstalled Fallout 4 and reinstalled it. I then proceeded to install all the mods associated with SS2 in their proper loader first, before installing any other mods. As I began to install my favorite mods via NMM such as Ragdoll Force, ZaZ Skeleton, CBBE knee fix, and others NMM wouldn't install them. None of the plugins could be checked because they weren't there. After trying to install them they would just remain grayed out. With that said, you were right about SS2 not being for me.

To that end, I wish to apologize to everyone for bothering you. My bad!!

Being stubborn and determined as I am I found out what was causing all of my issues. (1.) NMM wouldn't install certain base file plugins from FOMods; and, (2.) AAF Framework and any corresponding mod, and Better Settlers and its corresponding mods. So, I am hoping that I can play with SS2 now. Thanks.

Personally NMM always had weird issues for me. I switched to MO2 and never looked back.

I see lots of people using vortex now too but I can't attest to its stability.

Yea, I tried Vortex and didn't like it. Anyway, I am back in the game. I left behind almost twenty mods that I have used for years hoping that those mods we causing issues with SS2. (It feels strange without them.) Only time will tell!

I used Sanctuary Hills as my base... my home for so many years that it is hard to change. I have been in Sanctuary for about four hours now preparing and still haven't placed the beacon. Old habits do die hard. One thing is certain, however, I will be getting Dogmeant before the beacon goes up... so I can dismiss him. I love dogs, but Dogmeat is a royal pain in the arse.
