Question Settler's lagging 4 Suspended Stacks

Okay, so I'm trying to learn here. I've had some issues with Settler's not moving or doing anything since the beginning of this save. I could fix it by refreshing the cities, the NPCs would get unstuck, and start moving.

But now that I have quite a few settlements and it is starting to get consistent.

I'm trying to learn here. I ran ReSaver and it has 9 Active Scripts, so I'm good there since Kinggath says you need to be under 20.

But I have 4 Suspended Stacks. Picture attached.

How do I deal with Suspended Stacks? The PC Help Page only mentions them and focuses on unattached instances.

Is my best course of action to just stand in game for awhile? Refresh every city? Do suspended stacks doom your save?

Yes! Yes! Idle your save my depend on it.

“It's a pile of scripts. Basically the ActiveScript count gets so high that it hits pause on the entire stack. It will clear up the same way ActiveScripts do - with time inactive.”

Thank KG for the above. I learned something too.

I if you try any console cmd or deleting them there’s a good probability of other unforeseen issues so make sure to make a control save.

lastly, try to rollback and figure out the area or time of glitch and replay that part. I do that often as it is a LO issue that manifest at a point when some game progress is active. It may not be a persistent issue in other words.

Or are those permanently borked?

hopefully they will clear up.

I have found the more complex games really do need idle time to stay healthy. Other users on the forums have been putting out this same advice.

@Phil_T_Casual has done the best at articulating this advice.
 
Ohhhh. So I went to Covenant and started some stuff up there.

And yikes.

I'm not even at any of my settlements.

Yeah there is something in your game that is really backing the scripts up.

Likely it has been happening for a while.
 
I'm gonna go blow up a couple of Settlements, see if that helps.

They are all on Autobuild and autoupgrade.

Is there a general rule for how many settlements you should be attempting to upgrade at once?
 
Okay it is back down. I'm going from 10 to 18 Active Scripts usually and 1 to 2 suspended. Every now and then that spikes.

What is normal Script behavior for Sim Settlements?

push max threads up to 30 until they come down to as few as possible

I don’t know what is normal for your game? I pre build city plans to level 3 while in the vault. So my SS scripts are minuscule and I just set up a few Settlements manually with plots after that.

I have 500 mods running 4 active scripts, none are SS most of the time.
 
Well, crap. After starting a new game with the Settlements all prebuilt it is till doing this.

That leads me to believe it is another mod.

Going to start over a dump everything except SS.

So with nothing but Sim Settlements and the Unofficial Patch I get about half the settlers that animate, and the other half just sit there. I'll get a 6 to 8 suspended scripts, and those will clear up in a few minutes, but the the problem still persists.
