    If you donate scrap to a non-rotc settlement via a salvage beacon, where does it go?

    Just wondering, say I wanted to send some weapons, ammo, and armor to a new settlement for that armory rating boost. But I also want scrap for building, where does it go if sent via one salvage beacon?

    Should scrap be sent via a separate beacon for me?

    I'm using IDEK and haven't got to level 2 to use the beacons yet, (loving that integration) just trying to plan ahead for how many beacons I should carry around. (also I do not know the full capabilities of IDEK yet)

    Thanks much

    PS; If making donations to a non-rotc settlement will I need to set up a desk first?

    I believe you need a planner's desk even if you don't use the RotC city plan to send donations. However, if you're not using a city plan with a leader, scrap donations to the desk are pointless, whether direct donation or sent by beacon, since the scrap is only used to upgrade the city, and with no city plan, there's nothing to upgrade. Just send the scrap separately and specify it's for you -- it'll get dumped into the settlement's workbench. And of course with supply lines going that means you can use that scrap from any settlement on the supply grid.

    That said, as has been often pointed out, building a desk even in settlements that you're building yourself has a lot of benefits. Non-scrap donations are one, of course, as is the ability to change the flags flying in the settlement (martial plots, etc), and you can even assign a leader to get the benefits of the leader's traits without having to worry about other stuff.

    Thanks for that. I was aware of most of that, didn't know about flags though, never even crossed my mind. Can't remember seeing that option. I do always build a desk anyway, mainly for the local plot report since it's not available on the pip-boy tape.

    But still wondering where does the scrap go? I think I'll try it on Starlight since I haven't done anything there besides clear it out. (I'm guessing it just gets lost forever) I'll find out

    Yea, the flag thing is subtle - I only discovered it recently myself. Click on the flag on the planner’s desk.

    Well isn't that the cat's meow.

    Back to original question.

    OK, Starlight, non-rotc

    Still get option to donate to settlement with beacons. So donating to settlement using beacons;

    With NO DESK - all scrap will go into workshop, all else, (weapons, armor, aid) will be lost.

    With desk - again all scrap goes to workshop. (thx King) weapons and armor went to settlement, (increased armory rating)

    However I did this with no settlers so all food items and water were returned to player inventory,
    chems, alcohol, radaway, stimpaks, etc. I'm guessing went to settlement also.

    Also I did not include any misc items since I normally don't include them with salvage pick-ups
