I'm at level 60 and on the mission to position the beacons for MALA to go to the location (the three missions that precede the end of Chapter 1 receive this error when loading saves. Is it safe to continue playing or should I revert to a previous save?

I've had this frequently and raised the issue with kinggath. Fortunately since the data is now able to be recovered (in the past this was not possible), it's absolutely fine to continue playing on them.
