Sanctuary Ain't Done 'Till Fallout Won't Run

So when Rise of the Commonwealth came out I immedately set out to see what all the city builds looked like. I was very impressed with Sanctuary, because the designers were doing things I'd never considered -- building on top of the houses, creating catwalks to connect the other levels, doing some very creative things with item clipping, etc. My only real complaint was that it was very crowded -- it uses just a piece of Sanctuary.

SO I started a new game and started building, trying to adapt the stuff I saw. The end result is... um... really different, because the level of complexity that existed in the ROTC Sanctuary plan is beyond me. On the other hand, it has a "Sole Survivor Army Engineering Corps" vibe that appeals to me.

We start with an obligatory aerial shot:

A look at the Sanctuary skyline, standing on that rocky hill between Sanctuary and Red Rocket:

The front gates. I put Eldarth's 1x1 sniper tower on top of a 4x4 concrete bunker, which has an interior residence plot in it for each guard.

Welcome to Sanctuary! Population 38, so far. The roof has two of Mytigio's Settler Support plots. The semi-open area beneath it is currently empty, because I'm waiting for modders to make more interior Industrial plots. :)

The city proper!

(Haven't decided what to build on top of this house yet, so it just a platform at the moment.)

This is the house that sits just to the right of the path that leads to the Vault 111 footbridge. Essentially I have shamelessly stolen the concept of the police station from the Sanctuary City Plan and just... riffed on it.

I gave Jun a desk job. This is his office.

Night falls over the city! I really need to add more lights, but I really don't want to reduce my framerate any more than it already is!

That looks really good. I too decided not to use the city plan for Sanctuary, but have got ideas from it for my own.
I like the Police station. I tend to build Sanctuary as my Central Command.

What mods did you use for your build?

Very impressive!
Felt the same way about the Sanctuary city plan.
Very skilled building, better than I can manage but not the Sanctuary I envisaged.
You're better at building on the houses than I am. I may shamelessly borrow from you on my next Sanctuary build :grin

Hm. I use a lot of mods, but for building I tend to focus on these:

External
(There were a few others that I used bits and pieces of on the Castle, but I'm trying to phase them out:)
  • Settlement Objects Expansion Pack (this has some amazing stuff in it, but it's all very high-tech and it doesn't quite fit the look of my settlements. But it has half-walls, and FALLOUT 4 NEEDS MORE HALF WALLS grr)
  • Snappy Housekit (great mod, but has waaay more stuff than I need, and NMM has been complaining about all the plugins I use lately. The wallpaper stuff is cool, though.)
  • Kraggles Structures - Piers Prefabs and Terrain (this is one is very situational, but whenever I build settlements out over water areas I wind up using something here. Not used for Sanctuary though)
Internal - I use a lot more of these
Something I added or updated recently gave me some new designs for the Armorsmith Extended and Weaponsmith Extended workbenches, but I can't remember the name. :-/

I think this accounts for everything. Um. Be warned: If you use all these, be prepared to wait like 30 seconds to switch over to Workshop mode.

Creative Clutter (which I just noticed has been updated since I last installed it *heads off to download*)

I'm working on a rather massive update. I personally am contributing way too many things for it. My own contributions to this next update are the biggest I've done since the initial publish. It's a large enough update that I've been working on it for over a month and will likely need another month to finish. Some on the team have been working on content that will most likely be spun off into a separate mod (or 2) due to its size. We'll also be extensively adding to the modders resource. We're also going to create a new Lite version for Xbox folks.
