Bug [RoTC] CTD when in (or looking at from Sanctuary) Red Rocket

I have been running Mytigio's Industrial City fine prior to RoTC but since then ive had regular CTD upon entering (or looking at from sanctuary) Red Rocket. I've been through my mods enabling them sequentially and narrowed it down to IC. I have IC plans in other settlements and they are fine but RR is the only settlement to contain the scav support plans and the only settlement to cause CTD 100% of the time. Any ideas on how to fix?

additional info:
*settlement built and functioning prior to SS 3.0
*still occurring after SS 3.01 patch
* various other addon packs installed
*still occurring after IC 0.9.1 update
*RR has no city leader/ city building plans active
*may be a mod conflict between IC and one of my other mods that i havent seen yet, i just know that at the moment game crashes with all my mods enabled +IC and is fine with all mods enabled ad no IC

Thanks!
Louis.

I would suggest turning off high detail models to start with.

Robots are very very high-poly models, so I have broken up a lot of my building decorations into High Detail Models and Clutter categories int he performance settings to help deal with the load. If you had a building upgrade or get placed while you were away (which can now happen properly with SS 3.0) it may have pushed you over the limit on poly's that your system can handle.

You may also try 3.0.2 hotfix for SS that is up now, one of it's primary items is fixing crashes by optimizing the upgrade code for settlements.

I assume you are the same person who posted this on nexus, so I'm going to continue and respond here instead of there.

I'm not discarding that IC might be involved in your CTD, but I think the roots of the problem are much deeper. I had reliable CTD in RR before ever placing an IC plot there, there was something there that crashed the game when I only had 3 farms and 3 houses, and this was before 3.0.0.
In outpost zimonja I have 67 plots all pilled up on each other (found out this when I refreshed the settlement after installing 3.0.0), and they are from almost every add-on for SS, and they include a scav dispatcher. And my problem there comes from 50 npcs pilling in one spot, doing one of my sleeps spreads the npcs and returns my framerate to normal levels.
In RR not only I could not fast travel to the original spot, had to fast travel to sanctuary, that has much more people, robots and stuff on it (including problems from me messing with the map), but also, when I get close to the middle of the settlement it sometimes chokes for a few seconds, even after loading everything.
But I have the settlements extended, what I'm mostly sure is the reason for the npcs from sanctuary starting to sometimes spawn in RR after I installed SS.
If your game is anything like mine, the problem is being aggravated by SS 3.0.0. I admit I haven't had a predictable CTD in settlements since 3.0.0, but the model and texture loading is getting slower and slower at every hotfix.
I almost never had the resource problem from fast travel, and now even vertibird rides are problematic, I had to defend RR today and some of the items toke more than 5 minutes to finally show up, leaving the already dumb Bethesda engine thinking I had no resources. I had to go home to sanctuary and do my stuff and come back later.

I have tried disabling the high poly setting you suggested but i never get a conformation message saying its finished. should i get one?

Did you refresh the plots? I think most of the SS visual related option need the plots to be refreshed in order for the new settings to be applied.
Do you have the latest updates for SS? Kinggath fixed some nasty performance issues in the latest updates.
With the current update my model and texture loading issues are gone, and I can fast travel and run back into big settlements again without CTD.

Was still getting crashes with all latest updates. Turned the high poly models off though and fast traveled to concord, then started to walk towards RR and noticed in the distance various objects deleting themselves then reappearing so that must of been the refresh of lower poly models. after this i walked in to RR and no crashes!

This would normally crash every time so preliminary test is good!

Can anyone tell me whether RR and sanctuary load together as i didn't think i had a particularly dense RR but if combined with sanctuary i can see where the poly density might come from?

If you walk there from concord RR should load before sanctuary starts, if you fast travel to RR they will load at the same time, I can see most of my sanctuary settlement from the tower I have in RR.
If you fast travel to sanctuary, RR will start to load when you are in the middle of sanctuary.

that's great to hear! and yeah those 2 are close enough that things on the forward edge of sanctuary definitely load with RR if you fast travel in.

You can also turn down the render distance. But that looks crappy. LOL
So, correct me if I'm wrong, but in this case it seems to be more of a hardware problem than a code problem.
I've been trying for 2 days to replicate the Sanctuary CTD folks are getting. No luck. humm maybe turning the render distance waaay up!

Yeah, and frankly my plots tend to be fairly heavy. I have individual pieces in some of my plots that have more polygons then some of jtbryants entire plots. The sentrybot you see on some of my plots has 28,000 polygons all by itself.

Many of my plots split their clutter into 3 chunks, with about a 3rd of the polygons in high definition models, a 3rd in clutter and a 3rd as the "default"
