[Question] Red Rocket Suggestions (Under The Rocket Area)

I wanted to ask: What do you all do in your settlement builds in the area under the Rocket at Red Rocket?

I am currently working on this settlement and it is going well. It feels real organic and legit. Thanks to SS and seeing what is going on over at Sanctuary thanks to RoTC. But I am hitting a wall with this middle spot. I build one thing but fill like it is out of place and trashy and I just don't like it one bit. I have used the Googles and Bings to see if I can find inspiration but it is not going as plan.

Also I wanted to hit up the builders and find out what MODs do you us for work shop mode.
I use:
Northland Digger
Invisible Furniture
g2m- Workshop
Dino's Decorations
Settlement_Markers
1x1 Craftable Foundation Pieces
PWR - Passive Water Resources vol. 1
Thematic and Practical
OCDecorator - Static Loot
Do It Yourself
Place Anywhere

I think that is all of them that are currently in my current game. But I notice with RoTC there are pipes and other assets that are in the town that I have not noticed in my build mode. But I might be over looking.

Thanks for your time. And Please teach me the ways of Settlement Building. ^_^

I always try not to build up RR too much as it is the center of the triangle of death. I like turning that area into a post-apocalyptic rest stop. A few burn barrels, a couple picnic tables, maybe a bbq to chief up some mole rat. I like putting an interior plot inside "a bar" and put some high tables up to the windows with some stools.

MODS? humm here are most... Underlined are kind of the funer ones.

I've never really put effort into building a settlement at RR. But now that I'm playing survival, I'll need to.
Keep in mind I'm playing unmodded, as I'm limited to PS4 for the time being, and I've found most PS4 mods I'm either not interested in, or they're too unstable.

My plan is to keep it small and build it like more of a defensive/resupply outpost, rather than a full blown settlement. This is both because of the Triangle of Death situation, as well as because of the smaller build area, and the location. It's a stones throw away from two other major settlements, it seems odd to build it up too much.
I plan to build:
  • two or three watchtowers, similar in design to AdaposeTVs watchtowers. Just search YouTube (I can't post a link as I'm at work and YT is blocked). I'll probably put 3 guardposts in each tower, so one settler will patrol between all 3 in the one tower. I may also include a bedroom in each tower, rather than building a separate structure for them.
  • A scavenger station
  • A general trader
  • A basic adhesive farm (3 Mutefruit, 3 tatos, 3 corn. 1 Settler for 6 food/2 Vegetable Starch per day).
  • Player Bed/Home (with powered door)
That's pretty light on. Which is intended, though I'll likely add an artillery piece once I can.

I'll be sending Sturges there, of course. And ideally decking everyone out with RR overalls.

While all of that is vanilla, I'm sure there are SS equivalents if you wanted to go down the same path. You could even put Sturges as the Leader if you want.

As far as what to build under RR's Awning, it is a tricky area to work with. I can't recall what can or cannot be scrapped under there. It is undercover though, so it may be worth considering some Internal plots. Or if you build the windows to the awning section as the shop windows, then you can use the undercover area as seating/waiting area. Especially good if you build a bar. Maybe build a low wall/partition using the pumps as the 'bookends' for it.
If you've got the Automatron DLC, it's a good place to build a Robot Workstation too.

I use abduction so I capture some raiders and make this a raider outpost mostly in defending Sanctuary entrance. Usually put a IDEK station there to be a hub for all the northern settlements I use ... links to Abernathy and Starlight well with provisioners. I usually set RR as more of a supply stop and with my raiders, more of defense supplies.

Under the awning, I generally fence off the area with junk walls and make it more of a relaxation area for the raiders to eat, drink, trade. I put a bunk house under there with sleeping bags and a big bonfire with food on the spit.
