Tonight's public beta was unexpected, but while trying to collect some footage for voice actors to show off their stuff I ran into a few things and decided to just fix them on the spot. So here we are!
  • Fixed a bug that would cause Flag and Leader selection to eventually stop working.
  • Fixed a bug with the Makeshift Armorer leader trait.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause one of the dialogue choices with Stodge during Who Can? ASAM! To cause the scene to end until you spoke to him again.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause the dialogue scene led by Theresa during Who Can? ASAM!, under certain scenarios, to get stuck.
  • Fixed a bug in Who Can? ASAM!, where after Theresa suggests people step forward, the scene stalls out and can’t continue.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the Dog from Let Sleeping Dogs Lie from being interacted with. This was a bug that had previously been fixed and was reintroduced with 1.0.2.
  • Fixed a bug with the quest Not All Artists Starve where the player would try and turn in the quest to every NPC.
  • The characters Archibald and Treadwell will now correctly trigger a second quest about 24 hours after Not All Artists Starve. Anyone who had previously completed the first quest will find a new quest starting a day or two in-game after loading this patch.
  • Fixed a player line from Foggy Winters’ introduction that would play the male player voice for both male and female player characters.

@kinggath are you pretty confident with Who Can? ASAM! or do you think there might be more changes to this scene in the future?

I've been holding off releasing an updated version of my patch for this reason. I don't want to introduce bugs! Thanks.

@msalaba There will be at least one more update for grammar/spelling issues to it. If people find more issues with scene flow I will fix those, as well. There are quite a few paths through that quest, so I undoubtedly didn't catch every permutation.

So I’m not sure this is a hot fix related issue or plot related issue. In sanctuary I replaced a bunch of the interior home plots from the city plan with multi person plans ( there’s only 2 of them the bunk bed plan and the single bed with 2 pillows one ) and here’s the issue when I changed plans and after they started building pots went inactive, the beds where there but you can’t activate the plot or the asam sensor to do anything. I was trying to assign the second people to them all but they all had the same issue you couldn’t interact with the plot at all ( with the exception of scrapping just the stuff the plots built )

I left and did other stuff for a while and the hud started showing up again for them but still couldn’t activate anything on the plots including moving the plots in workshop mode. Also my sanctuary city plan would not allow upgrades to the plots. I built abarnathy then about 30 mins later sanctuary both had about 75 happiness both about 4 days of in game play since started. Abarnathy had been firing off upgrades for several hours in real life and still nothing in sanctuary.

if it helps I set my in game time scale to 10 instead of 15 but I’ve done that on nearly every play through with 0 issues before.

other then that everything else has been working a lot better the my first few tries including scrapping plots that have been placed for a few in game days.

I've had that same issue happen with those same Internal Multi-person Residentials (They're from Wasteland Venturers, right?), and I'm not running this Beta. I found that the ASAM was still usable, just had to get in EXACTLY the right spot for it to work.

Yeah I think that’s the only option for the multi plot interiors at the moment. I love the 2 person interior plots though only need half the plots so between those 1 3x3 agricultural plot then a few municipal plots and resource plots. You can save like 5 to 10 plots worth of stuff making the build smaller and easier to manage. Instead of 30 plots you could potentially get down to 20 using the multi plots for stuff.

hopefully this gets fixed it’s not game breaking exactly just seems to be some scripting lag or issue to me.

Do you have this same issue changing the plan to some other building plan? How about changing the plan on some other plot from the city plan?

Wondering if as yaugie said, this could be an issue with specific building plans, in which case we need to tag the creators. If it's happening with everything, could be a save issue, or a problem with City Plan spawned plots in particular.

From my own not-exactly-scientifically-documented experience, it seemed to happen with all multi-occupant Interior plots when trying to add anyone after the first (although there's still something bizarre going on with people being "auto-assigned" to those slots even if Auto Assign is turned off, but also still counting as homeless/unemployed). I'll do some more testing this evening and actually take notes this time.

About the multi residential interior "Home Sweet Home", @NDCowdy also mentioned having trouble accessing the plot but I can't replicate this on either mine or Myra's computers. At all levels I can access the menu on the floor or the ASAM (see screenshot). When interior plots are placed close up to a wall sometimes the ASAM slips into the wall and is hard to access - could this be why you can't get to the menu? (The bunk bed multi res is not ours.)

Settlers being assigned to multiple home plots is something I've seen happening with only SS2 exterior plots (not using a city plan and this was on a pre-release version), and also seen reports from players with no addon packs installed, so I think this could be a core SS2 thing. But I did have a lot of problems getting the Powells assigned to the plan I made them in the correct order, and gave up after 8 settlers were assigned to the 4 settler plot, only two of which were the Powells, even after using the Town gavel to unassign all settlers - so something could be wrong with my setup. They have the property set for the number of settlers for each level.

EDIT: You are assigning the settlers to the plot, not to their beds on the plots, right?

Now that people are actually looking, I cant seem to reproduce the issue either. "Home Sweet Home" and "END MessHall" are being more picky about highlighting properly than any others, but I did PlaceAnywhere those into spots they otherwise refused to go (because of those strange "invisible collision objects" scattered around) - they still function fine, although due to that issue in the brackets Marcy and Jun can't actually path to their little bedroom.
I need to stop, take a breath, and chill on the rageposting I guess

45 minutes later edit: Here, I recorded myself having the issue I thought we were talking about. Note how long I spent trying to find the one inch worth of space it'd Activate from the floor, let alone the sweet spot to actually use the ASAM on the wall... and the second one upside down on the other side of it? This is after a Refresh and leaving my character idle facing a wall for a good 5 minutes. Tracking is set to show Jun and Marcy Long, who own that plot, they're somewhere off in Sanctuary wandering around, it's like 10pm in-game. Plot is somewhere that did not require PlaceEverywhere to get it in that room.

Also why does that powerplant behind the house still have its Xmas Decorations up, and why are some of them outside the Plot? That's not the in game date.

That's what I was seeing also. Using the console to try and select the plot in the areas where it isn't selectable shows 'null ff00df1d(pp)' like there's an invisible object there. The same id shows for me when the plot is moved to different locations or built in different settlements.

Some additional notes:
  • None of the other Interior Plots in this settlement are doing this, although I only just now noticed that the [wv]MessHall is still only level 1 for some reason (thus meaning that HomeSweetHome is the only multi-occupant plot in Sanctuary with more than one person assigned onto it)
  • Settlement is 100% built by hand, no city plans active anywhere at all in this save
  • Changing that plot to another design (I used one of the 'core' single-resident ones) still kept the issue of only being able to 'activate' it by the very edge and only on the right angles.

If the problem stays after being changed to another plan, I would think that indicates it’s not an issue with the building plan (but it’s weird that both of you have this issue with this plan).

@yaugieLC Side note - which version of Wasteland Venturers do you have? In the video there’s an activatable bed marker that I replaced in version 1.1.1, not that I think it matters for the menu issue. EDIT: my mistake - wrong level of the plot for the bed issue!

EDIT: do you have the name and author of the power plot with the Xmas deco?

That's v1.2.0, the newest one according to the Nexus. And that power plant is the "core" SS2 Basic 2x2 one.

Ok I just tried building a brand new one of that same plot-plan elsewhere in that same settlement, and then using the forbidden magicks to level it up... and that one didn't do it at any level. It didn't have anyone assigned either, though... there's DEFINITELY something else going on. (side note, I think that plot at level 3 is actually nicer than my IRL bedroom)

@Bored Peon and I had a long discussion about this here. I have not noticed the refresh issue in the latest versions of SS2. I do not recall seeing anything in the patch notes directly detailing any issues about settlers assigning to multiple 2x2 multiRes plots. I do not have any addon packs installed, so this is core SS2 behavior.

The work around I have found is to have manual assignment and upgrades turned on. Only upgrade the multiRes plots when you have a settler to assign. Doing this, I have not had any assignment issues.

Yes, depending on the wall it touches, lag in the game, and whether that molerat over there farted or not is all factors in being able to reach that SAM.
I found it best to simply use the f1/f2 features in Place Everywhere and pull them away from the wall.

It aint exclusive to exterior plots, just harder to replicate onto interior plots unless you intentionally try to replicate it. Yes, it does seem to be a core issue.
It is marked as issue #394

You have to play musical owners.
The owner is the last one evicted.
So you would have to assign each of them as owner in order to evict everyone else.
This of course assumes that the occupants have an order list to them and if uses a constant first in and first out method.

I’m having pretty much exactly what the video shows except I can’t access any setting from the asam sensor or plot at all.
