Power Tools experience discussion

Hey... I've been having tons of problems with power grids (like many of you). I'd like to post some experiences here so there's a fairly central location for the mod team to see what we are experiencing with the great new Power Tools functions.

My worst settlement is Sanctuary. I have manually fixed it several times, and each time, it breaks again.

With the Power Tools, I just manually scrapped all the wires, then ran the auto-wire function of the Power Tools. This worked quite well, and brought all the plots back online. After a few minutes, IDEK asked me to fix an issue at Finch. Once it returned me, only a few moments later, the grid was broken again. Running the Rebuild function just crashes once the "Rewiring the Settlement" progress bar reaches 100%.

I'm going to continue testing in other, less populated (this Sanctuary only has 22 settlers) settlements. I'm not sure if there are solutions yet, but I hope that posting experiences here can help with finding solutions. (Like all of us, I really wish Bethesda would fix it).

I've attempted to break the Sanctuary grid into multiple separate parts. Does anyone know if this helps with the grid corruption issue? If it's related to a volume of connection points thing, then maybe, but if a grid can fail because of one bad wire or connector, then this might be a moot point. As of now, I have four grids, each with their own power supplies (mostly wind turbines), with the largest grid powered by a High-Tech power plant.

Had a crash earlier using the remove wires option other then that the rest has worked ok for me so far.

I recently fast-travelled into Greentop Nursery, and everything was working! It was surreal to see every single plot with power. I spent some time in the settlement, building up some stuff and adding a few new plots.

I eventually received a notification from IDEK's that an issue needed attention, so I let that tool take me on a tour of a couple of settlements to resolve resource issues. When I was returned, the entire grid at Greentop was destroyed. Nothing was powered. At this point, I had just manually rewired Sanctuary again (probably well over a dozen times now), and was just not in the mood.

Point is, is there a chance that IDEK's Logistics Station 2 is causing some of these issues? It is definitely not the first time that I've been whisked away from a functioning settlement to return to a heap of trash.

Do you have the Workshop Framework tools related to the Power Grid set to automatic? Those are usually the culprit for a destroyed Power Grid.

I do. I was under the impression that the main issues with that tool was fixed. I guess not. I'll try turning it off next time I play and see if it has any effect. Having to rebuild every single grid at every single visit is getting a bit tiresome.

Kinggath made the tools run automatically again because we now have options to remove or add wires, but I don't think that they are more "stable", which is why turning them off is my recommendation. If you crash at a settlement, you simply get back in the game, run the remote management tools from Workshop Framework to destroy the grid, then you can go to that settlement to rewire everything. It shouldn't happen often.

Sanctuary is also one of the worst place, this is why I don't build power plots there. Using non-SS2 powerplant, I never had a problem until that particuliar WSFW patch. I mean I didn't had any SS2 plots and I had power grid issue until I disable the powergrid auto-repair/auto-destroy fonction.
