Place anywhere

Yes, and apologies for not noticing this question a week ago. The mod you want to try is:

Whisper's Workshop Utilities

It works with the last-created or last-picked-up object, bringing up a dialogue-wheel of options. It also places a special "activator object" which the player can use to switch between functions, before swapping

It gives the ability to move outside of the build-zone without being forced out of build-mode, for 1 hour (and without warning messages). This is useful for proper use of several of the other options from the dialogue-wheel.

The dialogue-wheel options allow:
  • fine-grained X/Y/Z movement (down to 0.1 units)
  • fine-grained X/Y/Z rotation (down to 0.1 degrees on any axis, without gimbal locking)
  • copy-paste of X/Y/Z position/rotation information between items
  • scaling objects (build or pick up and release any item then scale it between 0.1x and 5x normal - I had some fun with a teddy-bear for this)
  • cloning picked-up objects (including into red/outside the build-zone)
  • hiding objects
  • moving picked-up objects (including into red/outside the build-zone)
  • making picked-up objects (like teddy-bears) static
  • toggling grid-locking so that items which are created or picked up/released are always rotated the same on the Z axis (good for aligning stuff, I'm working on including the X/Y axis' as well)
  • linking picked-up objects (like teddy-bears) to the workbench (that's more a PC thing than an XBox thing)

Other things possible:
  • open/close doors (pick up and release the door, you can then get an option to "Activate" aka open/close it)
  • opening containers to add/remove contents (as above for containers)
  • turn on/off machinery (as above for generators, water purifiers, settlement beacons, etc)

Kinggath's Workshop Framework and Workshop Plus mods are not required, however they do give a few more functions:

  • better detection of the local workshop
  • bringing up the Workshop Plus Layers Menu
  • the ability to use Workshop Plus functions while in workshop mode:
  • * tracking settlers and their work-objects
  • * trading with settlers (while staying in workshop mode, yes - you can outfit them from your inventory without exiting workshop mode)
  • * tracking the owner of work-objects (plants, some Sim Settlements plots, etc)
  • * tracking the owner of beds

Note: It does not allow the turning off/on of snap-to-ground and snap-to-objects like Place Anywhere does. I'm pretty sure that the author of Place Anywhere (Reg2k) made some custom interface code for that, which is way outside my abilities to duplicate. Sorry people.

PC Version: https://bethesda.net/en/mods/fallout4/mod-detail/4229447

Bugreports and enhancement ideas are very welcome.

Special Note: If someone is on PC there is no need for this mod. Place Everywhere works better in all situations other than the gymbal locking for rotations. The PC version is just up there on BethNet for modders who want to dig into the guts of how I managed the coding and the alt-activation functions placed upon the items while in workshop mode.

Here's several video's that I've made showing it:

I forgot, there's also options to hide items (to get them out of the way while building) and re-show hidden items. Items will re-show upon leaving workshop mode.

Hi! Apologies for dragging up an old thread, but I've returned to building on Xbox after a long hiatus and this mod is everything I'm looking for...the problem is, I can't figure out how to use it, and your tutorial videos linked above are unavailable.

The issue I keep running into is that the options in the activation wheel simply don't respond to any button pushes for using their functions, and I can't interact with any workshop items while the globe is active. All I can do is cycle through options, and then hide/deactivate the globe to be able to pick up or interact with objects again.

This might be one of those things that is intuitive to some, but I can't figure it out. Can you please walk me through it, or link a tutorial? (I haven't been able to find a tutorial either...)

I'm on Xbox and am using Workshop Framework and Workshop Plus.
