Pipboy issue??

So THIS started happening after a message from HQ:

I hit tab for the pipboy after activating a relay tower AFTER I was contacted by Jake. This killed my last save and I have no idea how to even describe what I'm looking at. I can even still sift through the pipboy menues but I can't tab back out. I figured I'd try and see what the heck is going on first before I freak out.
 
Pretty sure this has to do with the latest SS2 radio updates. A lot of people reported it getting stuck like that, mostly on exit from radio tab or in power armor.
Okay, maybe this is because this started happening after messages from HQ on the radio. If more people are saying something about this, I haven't seen it yet.

And about FallUI, I've already talked to them in discord. They're insistent this isn't an issue on their side. The only other thing I can think of is something wrong with CBBE and the HQ Radio but I thought CBBE was pretty stable. Unless other things might be interfering like a non-vanilla outfit or something.
 
I have the same issue since 2.2.2. I don't use any FallUI related mods nor any unequip pipboy mods. Version 2.2.2a doesnt have the issue on a new game.

Edit: Perhaps this issue only affects people who have done HQ Radio quests stuff on 2.2.2.
I can test removing some specific scripts via FallrimTools, if someone knowledgable enough can list some related scripts. Whenever I use FallrimTools, I always make backups of my save.

Okay, so, i figured out what you were talking about and found the 2.2.2alpha in SS2: Ch 2

I had to begin again with a new game because of other things that started happening. I'm not sure i installed baka correctly. Once I get to HQ, I'll let you know if that thing starts up again. if it don't, Kingaath, I'll buy you a beer. For real.
 
Oh, I am having this same issue on my current playthrough. Didn't even know this was SS2 related. I figured out through online research that if you get stuck like this, there is a way to get out of it. If you still can navigate inside the pip boy menu load a holo tape and then after it loads exit the pip boy and this should work. If you cannot access the pip boy menu or even see your pip boy reload the previous save and enter power armor, pull up the pip boy and do the holo tape trick.

Well..it's too late for that save anyway but if it happens again I'll for sure try that out. I also updated CH2...seems I missed it. I think Kingaath said something about it and is working on it. I think.
 
can confirm, that this bug is present even without FallUI. I also have this bug after getting HQ Radio. Btw, it doesnt happen when you enter Inventory with your weapon drawn.
 
I jumped in some power armor awhile back to move it to the workshop frame(some settlers like to jump in it at will- let's try removing the the fusion core and see what happens), and checked the pipboy menus. That particular bug doesn't appear for me, nor did my character try and raise their arm to look at the pipboy while in power armor- the menus just 'pop up'. I guess that's normal. To be honest I never really paid attention.

I'm still doing a passthrough test for the main SS2 storyline and I have some coding to do, so it'll be awhile before I can try and help 'debug' this. Hopefully, you'll get it worked out by then.
 
FYI i ran into the same issue on my current play through a couple of times. changing between first and third person views before opening the pipboy seems to fix it, and it seems to happen the most when you leave the pipboy on the FM radio page, less so on other pages.

FYI if you get stuck in this animation, you can use the console command "Player.MoveTo Player" to get out of it so you can get control back. i use this alot on stuck animation stuff.

Thanks for the console command I will keep it in mind, as when this happens to me I lose all access to everything so I can't even change perspectives.
 
This issue seems to only happen to people who used workarounds to get through hq radio related scenes. It will probably never be fixed.
 
I had this happen yesterday when using the pipboy to turn off Diamond City Radio (must do that quest to make Travis not suck). Although I was near HQ and the HQ bar was still visible. Once I moved away from HQ and the bar disappeared, I could open the pipboy, turn off the radio, and close the pipboy as normal. So note to self, don't open the pipboy while the HQ bar is visible, bad things happen. Or use the prid/moveto commands to get unstuck.
