I've used BS Defense, Steph. Cool mod. How it might interact with Conqueror? *shrugs* Using it as a baseline to make unattended attacks resolve? Definitely worth thinking about. As Rylasasin suggested, there should be a more complex consideration of your contribution to the settlement than the base game calculation of whether an attack succeeds or fails. In my current playthrough, with all four Sim Settlements mods, you can contribute weapons to a settlement to increase its defense rating. Making that matter more is worth considering.
