Starting tonight, Wednesday February 1st, I'm starting a new playthrough!

First stream will go live at 9:00 PM central tonight here:
To view this content we will need your consent to set third party cookies.
For more detailed information, see our cookies page.

The goal of this playthrough is to experience the hardest difficulty options in a real playthrough, search for sore points we need to address to ensure that while the gameplay is complex and challenging - it isn't unfair and unfun.

Other Goals

We'll be playing through the questline again as a means of unlocking different elements and pacing ourselves.

This will be a much lengthier playthrough than Easy Mode, with a lot of time spent mucking around with settlement mechanics to get our balances right to optimize our chance of success with the systems. Very likely this will be the playthrough I do on stream up until Chapter 3 releases later this year.

Much like the previous playthroughs, I'm hoping to use this opportunity to discover and fix bugs, and also to look into opportunities for improving the mod overall.

Stream Format

The format will be mostly identical to the last playthrough:

Each session my goal will be to play an hour or two, almost entirely focused on the game, though will pause for Superchats - if any of you wants to support the mod - as all funds raised will either go back into the mod, or be donated to charity!

After the gameplay section, most days I'll stop and go full audience engagement - and do a Q&A until I'm ready to go to bed. I can show you features, answer questions about the mods, etc. I'll also be bringing back guests periodically to talk about the mod or do fun things like "Superchats for Charity".

Load Order

The load order is the same as the previous playthrough, though I may start installing add-on packs as we go to get more building variety.

This is all I'll be playing with to start:

HUD Framework
Workshop Framework
SS2 + SS2Extended
Chapter 2
Rise of the Commonwealth

F4SE Plugins
Place Everywhere
Better Console F4SE
MCM
Unlimited Survival Mode

I also have a couple utility mods I've made for myself to troubleshoot bugs - but they add nothing but console commands.

I'm really looking forward to this, and hoping you add some add-on packs. I'm also looking forward to you getting to Commercial plots on this playthrough, so I can see if it is a bug or just me that goods don't seem to ship beyond their source settlement.

HQ :p Also lead and cork.
Looking forward to this!
Lead and cork are my BANE right now. I literally have -200 lead in my network finding out a leadplant only produces 8.... super frustrating. You need 3 lead plants just to produce enough lead to cover the maintenance cost of ONE advance defense plot.

@kinggath Some SS2 Hardcore Survival tips from a long time player:
1) Keep purified water bottles around for long journeys, drink well water as main water source until you have a decent stockpile
2) Don't donate anything into the settlement virtual storage, keep it in your workbench and the SS2 settlers will pull automatically if needed (since you have that enabled)
2b) Virtual storage will fill up with uneeded junk pretty quick (glass in my case), donating speeds this up pretty quick
3) Pick up only what you need, will save hauling runs back to town.
4) Early game wood and steel will be in short supply as everything needs it to upgrade, later it's copper/cork/lead for maintenance
5) Pick which settlements you want to pick based on which area you want to explore, I usually pick Hangman, Greentop, and Starlight, as they are centrally located around lots of points of interest, and you will be running to settlements a ton
6) Empty bottles seem to be in worldspace mostly, not in loot boxes from my experience
7) Invest in medicine crafting
8) Write down a physical list of things to do when you get back to settlement (fill water bottles, drink water, dump junk in workbench, deconstruct loot, cook food, etc)

Adding to this list:

9. JET. Becoming a JET dealer will be super helpful as the weight is super lower and the selling price is good. I buy Brahaman and send them to the settlement in the triangle of death I don't use, and I have a provisioner to connect that settlement to my network.
