Hi all,

I'm very to to SS2 and I am looking for help in regards to what are the best settings, Basically easy mode, In a sense I want little to no involvement. I want to be able to do the quest line and the settlers just build and manager everything, so i can watch my settlements grow!

Any help regarding this is very much appreciated :)

Thanks!

Hello, and welcome.

When you first access the City Manager Holotape (acquired from the Stranger after you help him clear the raiders from Concord, or from a table just inside the window of the hardware store in Concord, or from the Mod Configuration Menu if you use that mod), it will ask if you are new to SS2. If you say yes, by default it will set SS2's difficulty to match your game difficulty (more or less). If you are not playing on Very Easy, say no when it asks if you are new, and choose the Automated setting. That will simplify SS2 pretty significantly.

Note that the settlers do not precisely just build your settlements for you. Typically you will need to get things started by building a City Planner's Desk, and selecting a City Plan. Note that you may need 20 ASAM sensors per City Plan (I don't play on Automated, so I'm not sure if Kinggath removed the ASAM cost on that difficulty). If you only have the basics for SS2 installed you will only have simple one-level city plans available, one for each settlement. If you want to have more to choose from you will need to choose and install the appropriate additional mods. Even on Automated mode you might want to help out your settlements a bit with donations of caps or (more importantly) supplies, or by directing more suitable settlers to more appropriate plots, but that is up to you. Also, some NPC quests may require you to build a particular plot manually, so it is a good idea to keep track of your settlements, and what is already built where. Also, City Plans add more plots and decor when they level up, so you may want to wait until a City Plan reaches level 3 before making any additions or other changes. Or you can keep one settlement to build on your own for those occasions.

I recommend adding most of the addon packs for plots, but you might want to pick your city plan mods carefully, as too many of them might be a burden on your system, depending on your hardware.
