mod recommendations

Hi! I’m preparing for a new playthrough of Fallout 4 and I wanted to ask you guys for mod recommendations. What are your favorite questmods that would go well with Sim Settlements 2?

I personally like to run Pack Attack NPC, and the full UniqueNPCs series. Pack Attack makes fighting better i would recomed something that buffs damage or changes the actual weapons stats it can be over whelming at times with big battles. and the Unique NPCs just adds more creatures and other encounterable NPCs in the game. Both fell Vanilla

Thank you ^^ UniqueNPCs seems great, I'm going to check it out.

I'm also thinking of adding All Americans that came out this month.

@UndercoverHat Ahahah! The more the better xd

how powerful is your rig?

Big fan of Pigness's "Handmade Weapons" mods lately myself. Fit in pretty nicely in an extension of the "people are making their own guns rather than somehow finding entire caches of pristine pre-war weapons" concept that the Pipe Guns of the base game introduced.

I don't have any other quest mods running lately, though - SS2 on its own is already probably about as much content as the base game.

Pretty powerful with lots of RAM.

Thanks! I'll add it to my list. New weapons are always nice ^^

I would check out @Martend 's Storywealth collection - that has lots of very good quest mods in it and may be a good basis for your load order.

If you are after city plans and you want to push your rig with some fantastic stuff, then Gavman, XmoridarX, NigauD and myself have a good range of FPS killing city plans for you to download.
Actually all the city comp entries are fantastic grab them all.

I actually tried Unique NPC's recently, seeing that it had done a performance update.

However, as soon as I got near to downtown Boston, I started experiencing random CTD's. There's so, so, SO many random raiders/NPC's in Boston that will all load into the 5x5 cell grid that it can cause crashes when it tries to randomize them all. Removing the mod immediately solved it.

My rig isn't state of the art, but it's pretty decent and still suffered these crashes:
  • Core i5-10400F
  • 16gb dual-channel DDR4-3200 RAM
  • Radeon RTX 5700 XT 8gb graphics
  • NVME PCI-Ex4 SSD

It's unfortunate, as the mod makes amazingly unique NPCs, but I think it's just simply too much for the game engine to handle in crowded areas like downtown Boston...

And in terms of quest mods, I really like the 'thuggysmurf' quest mods: Project Valkyrie, Fusion City Rising, Outcasts and Remnants. I skip Depravity, it just doesn't mesh with my intended playstyle very well, and I've had issues with Diamond City expansion as well in the past, so I skip that one too.

What I do like about the trio of mods I mentioned is the alternative ending to the Commonwealth main story, 'The Reformed Institute', and the modified Brotherhood, where Maxson is convinced to 'walk away', and let Sarah Lyons take over.

If you've never played Tales from the Commonwealth/Atomic Radio, that's a worthwhile addition as well, it adds a whole slew of short but interesting questlines.

There's also 'The Machine and Her', an incredible companion/quest mod, although it has a few bugs in certain quests, but you can get past them, people have documented how to do it on the mod page. The companion introduced in this mod, Kit, is incredible. She can hack/lockpick anything (starts at just novice, but she levels up by doing hacking/lockpicking), and her voice actor is incredible.

I also like to beef up all the factions, institute/brotherhood/railroad/super mutants/raiders, for more challenge and fun as well, and I use these mods for that:
Railroad Redone
Super Mutant Redux
Mutant Menagerie - Horrors of the Deep Fog
Commonwealth Scavvers
Brotherhood of Steel Armor Overhaul
Gunner Outfit Pack (and the leveled list injection related mod)
We are the Minutemen
Raider Gangs Extended
Synthetic Variations
Look at Me - Institute Edition (and it's required mods)

For weapons, Combined Arms and it's expansion pack add incredible variety to the ballistic weapons in-game, I'm absolutely loving all the weapons in it.

Hey! I'd like to thank you all for your awesome suggestions. I've picked some of them and added some choices of my own, but overall it looks like I have more than one playthrough ahead of me (that's fine, though xd).
