Masters Season 2 Rules (2020)

@Phil_T_Casual makes a good point.

So we are allowed to use workshop plus? With the layers and such, does the above also include the cloning function?

Also, when in a particular layer and grab some game provided item, say a chair or a cooler, already in game, if you grab it, it will say creating a player version.

I get the dont bring in past builds via whatever means, but is simply the workshop plus tool verboten because of what one can do in game?

John

@MrCJohn - From the Rules on the First Page.

This means that tools like Clipboard, Transfer Settlements, the Workshop Plus blueprint system, the Workshop Framework Layout system, or any other mod that produces a workshop item without you directly placing it in workshop mode, will invalidate your entry.

@Sirlach thank you. Just means using workshop plus is risky to use.

I appreciate the response.
John

Any advanced features of Workshop Plus are risky. Just use it to fly around to where you want to build, and everything will be fine.

Spawning objects/items with the console is fine for the regular contest, just not the masters.
Without me being able to spawn in the Switchboard objects for my bunker, my Masters entry last year would have been impossible. As far as I'm aware it was still a valid entry. People should be allowed to use every trick in the book that doesn't require the use of additional mods, it is the Masters after all.

What about WSP duplicate layer?
Can that be used to create a unique item out of workshop items that requires lots of angle tweaking. Like building a unique junk fence in a layer and duplicating it to other parts of your city?
@MadGax - Thats fine. According to KG and I quote "It explicitly monitors for the import functionality of WSFW, TS, and Copy Paste."

Okay now I am confused

Also, I never heard about the rule for not being able to spawn in items from the command console.

The Rules have evolved over time as KG has released new tools and people have found new ways of doings things.

And because there is money / prizes / reputation at stake the Masters comp has to be extra careful that all rules are followed.

The Competition is designed to be fair to ALL participants and can be summarised as such.

1. Tools. We only allow the direct placing of objects using the workshop menu using the standard vanilla assets and the appropriate DLC and PBP assets.

2. Any tool that lets you copy resources from somewhere else has to be disallowed as it provides an avenue for cheating.

As my dad said when speaking at my 21st Birthday " He was made in the dark with primitive tools" so too should the competition entries just be made with the basic tools that God Todd gave us. :)

So... no Place Everywhere, or WS+ flying, free build mode... :jester

I remember your build with the bridge and the underground area.

While y'all were having this here conversation I built this wild west trading post for my city plan. Wholesale natural and organic from the vanilla buildmenu PBP. Stop your infernal yapping and put your builders' pants on.
I never take them off. :moil I haven't stopped building since I got Fo4.
I want to know what our rules are and will the Blue Men & Beds be fixed?:declare
The answers to these questions will determine if I Care about this Contest. :focus (I don't yet.)
I'll Always be building Somewhere in Fo4. Will it be for the contests....? Maybe. :scratchhead
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your wild west trading post looks nice, but is a waste of your Build time, since you Can't use it for your city plan...:beee
Unless you are making that trade post into an add-on pack that you release immediately. :grin
Then we can All use it...:cool

Maybe I came of sounding a bit snarky, sorry about that. My point was you can built stuff with the tools present - that trading post is a part of my city plan, so no waste there. Now stop your debating and build a city worthy of Mordor!

The Rules are in the 1st post and as clarified by Sirlack in later post.

You will only need to send us your 4 saves and we will fix the bed and blue men problems if needed by that time.

Lets keep this friendly and fun would hate to close this post.

NOW BUILD GO GO gooooooooooooooooooooooo

RE: Workshop Plus duplication and blueprints, go for it!

The spirit of that rule was to prevent people from taking designs by others or designs done outside of the contest window and importing them.

There is code in SS to detect such importing, and since we're all starting from the same save file, WS+ blueprints made before the contest started won't be possible anyway and so won't break the rules.

RE: Broken blue-men marker type objects - at this point I've given up on any of them that aren't working consistently. I will address them after the next expansion as the new code is much more reliable.

As far as I know this only applies to the leveled objects. Given that the masters is about detailed crafting of every level, I'd advise against objects like those anyway - and all of the individual objects that represent the level-scaling for them are available to build.

If there are additional objects you feel are broken, I'd advise against using them. We can discuss getting them fixed after the next expansion.

Ok, a lot to catch up on here. I will just build from scratch, I will not enjoy some parts of it... looking at you tents but I have some time.
