Heyo!

I was thinking about how conqueror now jives with the rest of Fallout, how it doesn't, and how I don't really want anything to do with any of the main factions. At this point I would like my playthrough to be one of raiding and maybe some wasteland warfare against the existing factions. I use Start-me-up, so following up on the missing kid just doesn't make sense and I don't want to join any of the main factions, but I do want to be able to travel to them and wage war. I noticed that the Fusion City gang had created some mods huge mods that make this possible, which is great, but then that had me wondering if there are some alternative mods veer off from the main quest line. I'm more looking for something more lightweight than those mods, something that would better accommodate the conqueror quest line. I'm interested in hearing what you guys n' gals think. Here are some of the things that I want but I'm open to suggestions:

  • PC isn't moral, ideally.
  • PC doesn't become leader of mage guild, fighter's guild, Stormcloaks, BOS, NFL, or RACQ Roadside Assistance.
  • PC is either part of one group or none. They are already with Jammer and raider gang.
  • PC can travel/interact with the main factions without joining them. There's no getting to the Prydwen or CIT otherwise.
  • PC doesn't give two flying fecks about a missing kid out of vault 11... 1? 4? 6?
  • New locations/factions/companions are unimportant. I like the "lone survivor" part of fallout.
  • That said, morally corrupt companions would jive well. No jive turkeys though. :D
  • Preferably lightweight, even though that'd be a little difficult in this scenario. I like how Start-me-up eliminates conversation where it directly paints you as Nate/Nora, a vault dweller, but that's the extent of it. I have no need a huge mod with unique armors as rewards and everything like that.
Just a small list of demands, right? Lol, well not demands. I just figure with quest mods it is easier to ask people rather than install them all and play them through one-by-one. Also, I suppose an important question would be, if you don't play with mods that alter that quest line after multiple playthroughs, how do you keep things fresh? Unfortunately FO4 isn't hugely versatile when it comes to quests so, how do you reconcile actions that are counter to your play style? To anyone that reads this... I'm sorry?

Oh, that is a long list. :scratchhead

The best Companion I have found for the type of playthrough you are describing is. :kiss

I'm Darlene :kiss
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/36254

She is morally oblique. Doesn't like the PC helping settlements or settlers, but loves dogs and drugs. "D&D" :crazy hahaha KG and his jet would be fine with her. I highly recommend this mod. Given what you said. Super author and extremely well done. Used it for 2 playthroughs so this isn't a casual recommendation. It is the only "AAA" companion mod that I know that isn't Ivy or Heather that might fit your needs in a Conqueror run. I know there are others, but they just not as good of a companion mod for this kind of character, IMHO. The other one I mentioned needs a warning label but is very well done but "over-the-top adult and then some." I will not link it nor use the full title so no one ask.

I helped the author of this one. hahaha "at least that is what the credits say"
Mistress Passion And Exotic Coursers https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/32604 and it is lightweight if just looking for a general companion, but as a companion, they are kind of OP.

I think what you are describing is something I have been thinking about a little too much.
I am not seeing it, so may just have to get around and do it myself one day.
I call it "Faction Pack You."
It is basically what you are describing where the PC is "becomes" their own faction, for better or worse.

If someone doesn't beat me to it "hit, please do" but if no one does I may get around to it one day. Right now I am just to busy, but I sure have been thinking a lot about it. So, hahahaha, your post is just a reminder if it is going to get done I might just have to. :punish

I do use the mods that you also mentioned.

For now, I think they only add to the game as they are extremely high quality and a "hoot." I have never finished all of them in any one playthrough. thinking about it I have never finished any of them yet. :moil But I have played parts of them "some extensively". Depravity is new so haven't hit that one yet. But it is there.
So, more they are more of just a staple in my line up as they add a lot of interesting stuff but don't demand that you finish them.

Good luck. "Great Post and thread"
I'm looking forward to reading what everyone else says and suggests. :this

Oh I almost forgot. Save some room. South of the Sea is about to get an update so you might want to see what that brings to the table?

@RayBo Yeah, lol, it is a long list. And yeah Faction Pack - You sounds pretty neat. You could also call it Faction Pack - Lone Survivor, or A Boy and His Dog (after the 70s post apocalypse film), which coincidentally my playthrough is playing out something similar, only it's A Girl and Her Dog. Lol. Hmmm... I wonder how hard it would be to record voice lines and make Dogmeat telepathic? I'm naming him Blood right after this, lol!

Although, I should point out that conqueror is pretty new to me, having only just got back into fallout. So I'm finding the Jammer/Raider questline quite novel and I don't mind not having a faction pack on at all. In fact, I'm enjoying the trail of blood a bit too much lol! My major concern is how things play out later in game when there are these big factions that you can't interact with unless you join them.

I like your suggestions though. Darlene's been downloaded. I got sold on the screen cap "A lot of interesting dialogues". For some weird reason the author made her NOT like murder... Easy fix. :D. I've been meaning to get Ivy since I saw her in one of your vids, only Loverslab is a nightmare to search. A sexy nightmare, but a nightmare still. I have been rather dismissive of follower mods just because I find followers annoying, but it sounds like I'm missing out on some quality art. Also it's good to see that you're using the fusion city mods, I was reluctant to DL them because it just seems like too much is going on. I wasn't looking to recreate the game. But from the sounds of things they might be just what I need to fill the space left by ignoring the factions. Not to mention I enjoy seeing people's hard work come to life. Now that I think about it, doesn't one of those Fusion City mods have a Pimp faction? Might go well with Mistress Desire and her Exotic Coursers, lol.

Thanks Raybo. I'll keep my eyes out for South of the Sea too, looks like the updates right around the corner.

Keep em coming. I'm sure there are people with all sorts of play styles. I'd love to see how they bridge that gap.

For ages now I've been working on playing as a raider guide, one day I'll finish it. But what your asking to do, playing with main factions but not doing the main quest, is going to be very difficult. And imo takes away from the raider experience.
The best thing I find is to straight up ignore the main factions, and play a pure evil character. Anyone including companions that don't go along with what you do or say, you just murder them. It's very refreshing, and changes the way play the game a lot.
Wiping out Diamond City and good neighbour is great, best leave it till late game though.

Yeah you might be onto something there. Part of me wants to use the kill essentials functionality on Maxon and Father though. Oh, and the rest of the railroad. Maybe I'll just cheat my way in and assassinate them. Lol. Still, I'd be really interested in seeing what you come up with as a guide. I would have assumed that a raider guide would similar to the super mutant raiding instructions.

Get High.
Raid.
???
Profit.

Lol. Yeah maybe one day we'll see a Project Valkyrie ending for Raiders. At least for now they have a kill-em-all option. I wouldn't imagine it would be easy to mod (personally I find messing with quests the hardest thing to do because they are so fickle), but the natural extension of conqueror would be the major factions aiming to keep you in check. For now though, I will settle for being an ignored nobody raider. Although, something about playing it that way makes it more enjoyable, now that I think about it... Okay this post just became a stream of my consciousness.

Thanks for you input Phil. You gave me lots to think about.
