killing Jared and then nothing

when I go to kill Jared and then report back to jammer he gives me the next quest but it does not show that I have the quest and that I killed Jared

The quest In It For The Money went away?

I found this out the Hard way as well. For some reason if you kill ANY of the three leaders before talking to Jammer about killing them the quest will be stuck with a quest marker over the dead leaders body.

Hmm - I can't replicate this - so its going to be a tough one to fix. The code literally checks those marked bodies to see if they are dead or not, and if so, instantly marks them complete.

Do either of you have any mods that might be affecting these raiders?

I just had this happen with Tower Tom -- received the quest to kill him, then did so, but the quest log did not acknowledge it. I then went back to Jammer, who did acknowledge that I killed him, but the quest log still says the next step is to kill Tower Tom. Jammer will now explain to me the details of taking a settlement, but trying to give him caps does nothing, and trying to trade with him does not open a trade dialog.

I'm only using SS: 3 in 1, SS: Conqueror, and Workshop Framework.

If the objective isn't updating, but he's acknowledging it, then that is basically just a visual glitch and you can ignore it. You won't be able to trade with him until after you do the first two attack sequences which are essentially the "tutorials" so you can learn how the system works.

I'll probably add some sort of holotape tool you can run to force clean up objectives that are getting stuck as a stopgap until I figure out why they work for some people and not others.

Beyond just the objective not updating, there certainly seemed to be something else going on -- After killing all three bosses, Jammer explains attacking a settlement, then says that he needs to recruit more members, prompting you to either give him caps or chems. When I would choose to give him caps they were not being removed from my inventory, and when I would try to give him chems by trading, the trade dialog would not appear and dialog would exit out, with him saying that he'd see what he could do with what I gave him.

I've been letting the game run in the background and just went back to it now -- this time when talking to him again, going through the same dialog as before, then choosing the option to trade, I'm presented with the pop-ups explaining why I need to give him chems and it then properly opens the trade dialog.

By the time you get to that point, he should have already recruited 15 to 20 members who should be sandboxing around the north side of Concord. If that hasn't happened, then you definitely have a bigger issue.

Yeah, something's definitely screwed up. I noticed that stage 96 wasn't set, so I set it manually... and then I was able to choose an initial settlement to assault. I completed the assault quest, but Jammer doesn't recognize it. Stage 120 is set, but neither 125 or 130 is.

I would recommend trying a fresh save using the beta I posted in the Latest News post. I've added a lot of failsafes for random things around these objectives.

I've added a ton of code to try and handle a variety of scenarios I could dream up that might interfere for the next patch.

I'm going to mark this fixed for now, feel free to open another if the issue remains after the next patch.

I found out that if you just take over the settlement he keeps going to it seems to solve the problem. I have a question though. Is the “in it for the money” quest supposed to have the “help jammer(or don’t)” objective on forever? Or is there something that will trigger its and the entire quests completion?

The quest will complete eventually.

I am using your Nexus posted hotfix version. I tested killing Red T and then going straight to Tower. Jammer's needs updated correctly as I talked to him each time. He even walked up to the correct Outpost and we had a grand ol' time killing Gunners there later. The Red Rocket Radiation Pocket of Raider Death wasn't too good. Damn dumb arse raiders literally standing themselves . . . to death!
