Junk Town -Fences

Is there anyway you could do like a 3x3 deep fence and or make the mounds a bit deeper there's a surprisingly high number of places I can only use deep fences on the settlement edges because the mounds are floating or It's putting dirt mounds on the road ect.

This has been my favorite sim settlement add on please keep at it.

A 3x3 wudnt be hard to do :) hmmm maybe have it 2 deep and 1 up or 1 1/2 up/down.

Just curious do you use realistic build times? adding heaps of build stages increases the size and I'm curious how many actually use that.
 
Honestly no I don't, I thought about it but I already spend way more time bouncing from settlement to settlement to see what's getting updated than I do questing so I can afford to make my glorious scrap cities.
although bramn farms do make the Jet money train go a lot further I still have to work on occasion. :D
 
ok cool I'm just thinking about reducing some of the buildstages to reduce addon size
I'm not overly concerned about realistic build times either. Typically I put down a number of plots, go scrap hunting (clear out a few buildings), then stumble on the next settlement, put down som plots, go scrap hunting [repeat].

When I finally come back to the settlement I have to hunt the [bliip] scrap sales guy all over the settlement because they never are at their shop, then I change a few buildings that look stupidly out of place, but otherwise I let the randomized "sim system" do its thing.

Maybe I should've written that (how I play) before, when we discussed the outlining of the plots. I would like to put down several fence plots, leave, come back when it's ready. Now I realize that the size of the dirt mound tricked me. I believed you would build on all of it.
 
btw love that you put a z in front of the name of your fences plots!

the dirt mounds was my guide for the length of the plot, and to try and make it so they coyuld be used on uneven ground ,they did need to be deeper LOL lots of uneven ground in the commonwealth.
:) all the fences was for my settlement build at red rocket lol maybe I will finish it one day:)
So the deep fence idea from NexusValhees will be coming:)

O hehe the Z was to keep them all in one place ,would be good if there was some kind of sub menu for each addon but I don't think that's possible.
 
Using a dirt mount is excelent! Although maybe a bit generous on the with at times. I mean, for the bus plot, the fence is 7 wide, and the dirt mount is like 14 wide... :)

I wish we had a system to tag all plot names like you do with the "z".
"v" vehicles
"b" for boats
"c" for camper trailers
"t" for threes
"b" brick houses
"w" wooden schacks
"m" for metal schacks
etc

at the moment I got 70+ plots to choose from in the residential category

I don't think I have ever played a male character the way I see it if I'm gonna be stareing at someones butt all day it may as well be a girls butt lol

Suggestion: Check out the tourist town of Chloride, Arizona. Saw a tour of it... pretty scrappy and with some unique coloring .... fits along with yer stuff.

kinggath would have to rebuild the city planner and asam menus everytime a new add-on was released, that'd get tiring quick :P

Yeah, that's why the intial "z" was so simple and clever.
I do realize that it would be near impossible to get all modders to follows such a naming convention, but if most of you did, it would def help a lot. The number of plot designs is only gonna go up.

NikVilKok A codeing systems wud be cool but as u say not everyone would do it and there are few addons that arnt updated but are still good:)
I will check out thjat dirt mound ,maybe I could use something else but many are flat and don't go deep

Hmm, well, looks like I'll make everyone's life easier with mine then and use AC in front of the plan names. Going to work on my add-on over thanksgiving break since I've done nothing to it so far this month, hopefully I'll get a lot done over the next week or so since I won't have much of anything else to do.

Well, kinggaths load would be less then archerdowns was, he had to update with literally every update of every add-on, but I agree it's too much work for kinggath to add onto the existing load.

My current plan names all include "by mytigio" I believe, so I'm going to just stick with that I think (if there are any that don't however, let me know and I'll patch that).
