Is it just me...?

On an island, way out in the sea, where babies...

Does anyone else find themselves using the salvage beacons for no other reason than to give the settlers (yes, I know they're not actually settlers) an extra curricular activity to partake in? I love these things.

That's hilarious, it's been decades since I've heard that. No idea why it came to mind

I find salvage beacons just satisfies my need to take everything! If I am going out, I leave nothing behind but naked bodies! hah

Exactly that!

"Ooh, a pencil, I need that! Wait, no more room?!? Piper, oh Piper, come here please. Room for this pencil I almost missed? It's a special pencil that will help build the stairs to your dream home, I promise. Plus, you only need to carry it long enough for me to find a suitable container. Thanks, dear" :jester

You all would be called "hoarders" then! haha...

I used "linked container" mod and sort by item type in each settlement... or I can just increase carry weight.. sigh... cheating is binary... yes or no... seems to be no middle ground lol. :)

Well, I do hoard items to break down and use... hoarders would keep the whole item for some later use! Er wait... The items do sit and wait for me to use them.... ok nevermind... I am a hoarder! :)

Not to mention FPS goes up in settlement as you scrap in a settlement with Scrap Everything. With Scrap Everything off, I tried Sanctuary with the new Neeher boundaries (so more to scrap), FPS went from 63 to 75 fps in Ultra Mode. Yep, that's all I did... pretty barren, so I didn't do it... but a fun filled test! :)

Bad news there's mods that literaly let you salvage almost everything /outside/ of the settlement now.

Cars, corpses, trash piles, air conditioning units, brick piles, leaf piles, Vault containers, crates,

although where the marble come from has me baffled. I have 37 of them.

That said if I ever install mod that lets me put a settlement anywhere.....hmmmm

Types in search!

YES!

I've said it before, but if we had to "really" rebuild, there'd be teams out hauling all of the cars back to the scavenger plots at the settlements that had them, breaking into all of the boarded up houses for the wood, etc, etc.

But, I've also been using Kentington's Portable Junk Recycler, which breaks all of the junk items into their resource components, which means you and your companion can carry more before you have to find a container.

Oh, Ive got to get that!
His Manufacturing Extended is a fantastic mod. Really love the Robot Dis-assembler and Auto Butcher. Combined with the Object Extractor and Recycler I have a factory that can break down everything to its base components.

So you know, it only breaks down junk items, it doesn't break down weapons, armour or clothing.

I also use Manufacturing Extended, 'cos let's be honest it allows to make what we should have been able to make.

Sadly it seems the guy who did manufacturing Extended and his mods has abandoned them or does not care. Looked at the bugs and there is a huge list. THe posts look like he has not answered for some time. Maybe deserted the mods maybe not. If they work then cool. But I have benches to craft everything I need.

There is another excellent use for the salvage beacon - if you prefer to play as the Minutemen and cloth/armor/weapon-up each settlers yourself. I put a container at the settlement gate, put the cloths (Minutemen uniforms), armor and weapons in the container and use the salvage beacon to send this equipment to the next settlement, where I equipment the settlers and then repeat the process. I frequently move a 1,000 lbs around the map this way.

As Kinggath said: "But wait, I'm supposed to be the General of the Minutemen and the leader of dozens of settlements, why am I hauling hundreds of pounds of junk?"

I've gotten so bad that I don't get attacked by Raiders, Super Mutants or the like anymore. Now, there's always a herd of Scavers outside of Sanctuary, planning, plotting, trying to find a way to my workbench. It's my junk!
