HQ Reset Recovery Tool - Public Beta

Installed the fix, a part works a part don't.
On the bright side, when leaving HQ through the door I did not get shot by machinegun turrents anymore. (Who where destroyed before).
I wanted to continue do things in HQ, but all the departments in the HUD are gone.
When clicking on the room control pad, it showed me parts of the script.
A doorway in the basement was blocked by an invisible wall, I could not walk through it anymore.
Included .zip contains the screenshots I made of the 3 "issues"
Since I could not continue HQ, I loaded an older save which has security build, but where I need to start on the basement part and the Nightengale's quest.
That quest had at the end also an issue, during the last part of exploring the location, I could only click on a ladder which showed the options, open and open.
So that part could not be finished as well.
After loading the older save file I did get the HUD with departments back, also no more turrents outside. Will re-do that part of the quest to test it more.
Story / Quests / Characters A+++ I'm sure the game mechanics will follow, the story deserves it.
I hope others had more luck / proof. For me things did respawn not so much disapeared, like in the security area.

The only thing I noticed was that the vending machine on the first floor, back near the rotunda South of the broadcasting studio, did not auto-refresh from the holotape fix.
Nope, that was the wrong playthrough. Sorry, I have like, 5 or 6 save files from hitting the reset bug, and I didn't get to putting in the vending machine yet on this one. So, no issue seen. I HAVE had some frequent CTDs when trying again last night (I had a long day at work, so didn't have enough time to do anything past recover the HQ), but those issues didn't occur when I tried it two nights ago with only the minimal SS2 mod load order. Now, I have over 100 mods, so I can't call it the fix's issue, but I'm keeping an eye on it.

The ONLY thing that I can confirm is a bug, is a minor thing probably localized to the quick-fix itself. If the Holotape fix completes, and you get the popup message on screen, and you then go and refresh another room manually (without leaving GNN), the fix-completed popup message appears again. Yeah, minor.

This is just to give a visual reference on what an actual "HQ Reset" looks like...

This is the main entryway and the basement main entry before the reset:

These are the same rooms when you have the actual bug:

Okay, got some other interesting issues.

  • Invisible door at the 2nd floor elevator.
    • You can call the elevator to the second floor, walk into the elevator.... but you can't walk back out. First floor (ground) works just fine.
  • Powerplant does not refresh... I think...
    • The power scale indicator is MUCH lower on the post Holotape fix than before the reset occurs. Oddly I do not have a screen to refresh them, including on the pre-reset save.
    • Since there are no numbers associated with the power grid, I verify that the scale of the bar graph didn't just change.
  • There is too many engineers for the allowable spaces after the holotape fix.
    • Um, I'm stumped. The save I found before the reset only has 4 engineers assigned to a population cap of 4. Post fix, I have a cap of 4, but 5 assigned. I don't know what room was used or built between my December save, and when it had reset shortly after. So, it's an interesting factor, but I can't add any... you know, "helpful..." information.

Some more observations:
  • Powerline issues when visiting settlements
    • Whenever I visit a settlement (I have not revisited a settlement more than once since discovering this bug), it seems that the power grid is not connecting. I have to refresh every single powerline in the settlement by pressing "A" (XBox controller) on the line, then "B" to cancel, snapping it back into place. Until I do this with every single powerline, the power will not flow. I have never seen this issue before.
  • Fallout4 locking up during loading screens.
    • This is a new one for me. Sometimes, when fast traveling or entering a building, the loading screen will work fine for a bit, then it will freeze. I'm talking 20-30 minutes before I pull the plug hard freezes. Not sure what is causing this, but I don't recall it with the non beta patches.
  • GNN Power Distribution plant not refreshing with the holotape fix. Maybe even deleting itself?
    • In an earlier post, I noted that the number of engineers to the available slots was listed as red after applying the hotfix. I found today what happened.
      • Powerplant does not refresh... I think...
        • The power scale indicator is MUCH lower on the post Holotape fix than before the reset occurs. Oddly I do not have a screen to refresh them, including on the pre-reset save.
The power distribution center was built in a different room from where I was looking. Now that I have found it, it's listed as a room marked for it, but the post-fix thinks it was never built. Well, my earlier save shows it as being built, and this is why there are missing engineering job slots (x3).
    • I did a phase 2 upgrade (I think) last night, and it didn't do anything. Now, the power distribution plant is once again an option to build, and I'm trying it again.

Hey, first post.
First things first. This mod has been amazing. The quests. The story. The level of design and detail. Building concord. The gunner story in chapter 2. So impressed.

That out of the way, I had a save from hot fix h. I tried to complete the how to hq quest but could not assign jake or aiden. While looking here. It seemed to be related to the hq reset issue. After running the fix in the holotape, waiting the correct time. I entered and exited and could assign them!

so I guess this is a long post to say. I think the fix worked! If anything else word happens I’ll post back.

I thought my problems with HQ were due to the reset bug but after running these fixes and them not working and looking at Midian's screenshots it looks like I have a different issue. I can delete this and post a separate thread if that is preferred.

I 've playing in godmode pretty much the entire time and have build up all of HQ except for some upgrades to the science area but "How to HQ" is still stuck on "build more living quarters". There is a room on the main level, next to where the tutorial asks you to build the maintenance closet where nothing will build at all no matter what I select or how many times I refresh. The cafeteria was normal first few times I went back after building it but now the tables won't appear, if I reset the room the lights reload but the rest of the room stays the same.

In the top left I have no max population and can't invite anyone else to HQ. I didn't notice anything was wrong for a long time so I'm not sure when exactly it happened but I have heaps of saves and pretty sure I could find where it started if you needed the save files.

My load order is pretty minimum, only some workshop add-ons, Wild wasteland and an outfit for Hancock. I have save files from before and after

For what it is worth. My room also looks like this. Floating clutter with no furniture.

This particular room selection does this for everyone. There is another known one too, the back corner Living Quarters on the second floor(other options for that room include Laundromat, or Security's Assignment(?) Room). If I'm remembering right I think you get this when you select Cafeteria for this particular room, If you select Dining Hall instead it works (different deco, but at least it's not floating).

I'm completely unable to build a new infirmary. Since I trashed the makeshift infirmary by building a chemistry lab in its place, I'm now stuck completely without an infirmary in the HQ. I tried setting the area to Robotics, waiting 24 hours, and resetting it to Infirmary. No infirmary is offered under construction. Only chemistry lab and robotics are offered for construction, both of which I already have. HQ reset did not change any aspect of this problem. The area where the infirmary was intended to be built is completely empty and clean. Any suggestion? Or pictures wanted? I'm going back into the game to try to boost food production throughout my settlements so I can fulfill the HQ food requirement.

Has the inability to assign the department heads been fixed by any of the patches? I've stepped away from this for a while, but I'd like to come back to it if it's possible to get HQ working properly now.

You may want to just wait for a while until a few more bugs are worked out. Update hotfix to come out shortly...

Unfortunately not without making a mess of your install directory and complicating future updates.

I will say that for folks who have limited bandwidth (and also anyone who just finds it really irritating to have to keep updating), I'd recommend holding off on download our patches day 1. It won't be uncommon for a hotfix to drop within a day or two of a patch. Especially when things like this can happen (a file is being corrupted by the official tools is not something we can really prepare for).
